Hilarious voice. But, a character is a character. It's not racist at all, they just tried too hard. Also, if the character were white, you wouldn't hear much criticism necessarily.

I really dont wanna get into this... but that last sentence really gets on my nerves everytime somebody says.

Ive watched the trailer myself and as a Black dude I didnt find anything offensive about it... I think its more offending that shes called trash lady...

if you go to the South thats how most people( not just blacks) speak

Being from the deep south, I can tell you that no one currently uses the dialect that Letitia uses. Saying that any American speaks like this character is like saying there are still Americans that use Elizabethan English in 2011. It's not racist it's just ignorant.

Well of Course its Ignorant, most Black video game Chracters are portrayed in bad style or stereotype's ...I Mean Ralus from FF12 is the only Black character off the top of my head that had non stereotype backround. What Im saying is I seriously dont they are intending to be racist or purposely ignorant. This Dialect still exist .. not as bad as it use to.

I wouldn't say most are, but some are. Raven from Tekken isn't a black stereotype for example. But the dialect used by Letitia does not exist in the United States anymore. Being from Natchez Mississippi and having most of my family being either from Mississippi, Georgia, or Louisiana, I've heard a lot of unique southern accents and speech patterns and none sound like Letitia's speech pattern.

EDIT: As a matter of fact, it seems like they watched The Color Purple and said, "We need Seely in this game!"

There’s no denying that Deus Ex: Human Revolution is an excellent game. The series’ recently released reboot has received an overwhelmingly positive response from both critics and players (GamesRadar gave it a perfect score in our review). But despite high praise for the overall game, there’s been a lot of discussion over whether or not the representation of certain characters in the game cross the line of political correctness, especially in regards to NPC Letitia the Trash Lady, an African American woman who speaks in what is sometimes referred to as slave-era dialect.

See a video of Letitia the Trash Lady conversing with the game’s lead character Adam Jenson, read an official response from publisher Square Enix, and decide for yourself.

We contacted Square Enix to find out what the publisher had to say to fans who felt that the Uncle Tom-esque representation of Leticia the Trash Lady went too far. Here’s what they had to say:

"Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a fictional story which reflects the diversity of the world's future population by featuring characters of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. While these characters are meant to portray people living in the year 2027, it has never been our intention to represent any particular ethnic group in a negative light."

What do you think? Does Letitia revive a horrible racial stereotype? Or is the way she speaks just an earnest (but perhaps clumsy) attempt to portray poverty in Detroit, 2027? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

If this is Detroit in 2027 then it is a vast improvement.

I also thought she was a he because of her voice.

Anyone paid her for some intel?

Even in the north a lot of black people talk that way. The boss of my work-study job talks that way (shift manager of recycling for my university)

No racism here, except that yes, that is just poor voice-acting altogether (but not in a racist way), and it is odd to call her the "trash lady," but the mannerisms if anything are spot on

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

For a game that supposed to be so good, the voice acting is just horribly bad. Even the main actor sounds weird.
I may get this but this voice acting is just weird, but the game reminds me of the Darkness so might just get it.

thats the stupidest thing in the world if this is racist what thehell is grand theft auto
