Forums - Sales - The Wii Sports massacre continues...

The list we all speak of is a list of the most purchased games of all time. It is nothing to do with whether or not people were given the game free or not, In fact most of the current top ten had some form of pack-in at some point in their life.

There are hundreds of systems bought every day where shit games are packed in to get rid of them, consumers buy them because they are often getting the game(s) for really cheap.
Just because Wii sports is packed in that doesn't take away the fact that 15 million+ people have it and have played it.... As I have said MANY times before; That list on this website has nothing to do with whether or not the game was packed in. So all of you shut up. Edit. @Grey, I'm sure a few million of each of the games you mentioned were sold via store pack-ins, and for some (GT3) millions were from company pack-ins too. What I am trying to argue once again is that we cannot exclude Wii sports from the list unless we take out all pack-ins for all store/company deals.... And you cannot argue that people have no-choice with Wii, because in lots of stores you have no choice anyway, at least most people are getting a game they want with Wii If anyone wants to create a list of games where the only purchases that count are if the person willingly chose to buy the game and only the game at full price then feel free to travel the world asking every game consumer whether they wanted the game or not.

Wow, I didn't know the Europeans were getting it packed in. I just assumed they were getting shafted on that one (like everything else).

You learn something new every day...

My End of 2008 Hardware Predictions (console only):

Wii : 50 million

360: 28 million

PS3: 24 million

These predictions were made on January 3rd and won't be revised

Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, to name a few were, all bundled games at some point. I would easily buy these games if they were not thrown in anyway.

Wii Sports is selling the Wii IMHO. A perfect game for the console.
The number of times I've introduced tennis on it to new people who have asked "so, what buttons do I press"
And the next thing they say is "What, really, no buttons at all? That's amazing"

Oh yeah, but £180 = $360, so we still get ripped off in some way.

and super mario bros and duck hunt were pack-ins as well (at least in europe, as far as i know). i don't see anyone fighting to get SMB1 off the list.

I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would get excited over the sales of a bundled-game. It makes no sense at all.

You do understand that it is now starting to overcome the best selling bundled games of all time, right?

Reality has a Nintendo bias.

Yea, but it's a pack-in. No need to get excited about seeing it climb the list.

Eehrm... Super Mario Bros was also a pack-in... And Tetris... However, everyone counts those so why don't you just shut up with that stupid argument... You just can't stand it...

Last time i checked no-one was complaining about Forza, Motorstorm, Viva Pinata and Resistance being high on the charts because it was bundled... Live with it!

I think you'll find that there was no need to get excited over it climbing the list. I don't believe they were arguing that it shouldn't be on the list.

Perhaps before you get stuck into other people's posts you should perhaps read their posts and make sure that you have even a little understanding of what they wrote. And yes I know its time consuming but it saves you from making posts like the one above.

Ehrm...I'm a huge Nintendo fan, and I love to see all those Nintendo games top that list. Wii sports is a worldwide system seller, that should be obvious to anyone. I just don't think the game passing Nintendogs, which has like 90% of it's sales from non pack-ins, where Wii sports got like 20%, is anything to get excited about.
