"looks awesome" is 100% opposite of what I was thinking. It looks like a massive waste of money.

At that price sure it is a waste of money, but if they can make it cheap (200 $/€) in 2-3 years then they can count me in.

That and a wiimote/move and we will be one step closer to VR.

Its not just the price. Its the head trap combined with being tethered to a box... craptastic.

Mass consumers don't want to buy the current 3D glasses.. that are just glasses, yet they'll want this head gear? lol no.

But these are not only 3d glasses. You don't need a new TV for it as they have their own sreens (which gives you the impression seeing a really big screen with 5.1 audio).

Yes, they are cumbersome and not very nice looking, but what matters is what they do, and if they can do what Sony claims then they will be something awesome, in 2-3 years with a much lower price (and hopefully with better aesthetics).

Please excuse my bad English.

Lol haters gonna hate, disolitude (despite being anti Sony) generally has good points which is why I remain skeptical, but if the 3D is in fact good I could see myself getting it and the price point seems ideal when you pay attention to specs. I would probably buy this when it hits around 600 (better than spending the money on a shitty ipad). If it somehow has Vita connectivity, this would be the ideal roadtrip device (or long bus rides as long as you're not near ghetto hoods).

These have been around for a while. People should try them to see what they feel like.  I tried this one about a year ago - http://www.vuzix.com/consumer/products_wrap310xl.html

Wasn't bad but it wasn't as cool as it seems. Res was too low and the screen clarity wasn't great. Sony one obviously improves on the res...but still 1280x720 is nothing to brag about at that size.

Vuzix have something like this which would compete with Sony's 3D headset - http://www.vuzix.com/consumer/products_wrap_1200.html

I like that design better but still to expensive at 499.

Not interested. It's only good for one person and I'm sure my wife would be like what the hell are you doing on the sofa with that thing on your head.

...on the plus side you could lie and say "not watching porn" and she'd be none-the-wiser.

HMD's are nothing new, but they are the type of thing where you either go big or go home. I'm skeptical of any HMD that cost less than $1000. If I had the money to buy an 800 dollar HMD I may as well just get the $10,000 HMD.

Would be useful for college since I travel home every weekend. Not gonna take a 50 inch screen with me every time. So no PS3 for me in college. With this I could take it easily. But 500+ is a lot for it if it's shit.

This kills the social aspect of entertainment. Not my cup of tea.

This is exactly how I feel. It's a cool concept to think about... and it has some great points to the technology, but what you lose by using it makes it a no-go for me as well.

They do look interesting. Honestly if I can sit in a comfy gaming chair in the corner with a clean image and a good level of immersion without disturbing other people watching TV, that becomes priceless to me. For example playing SP games or playing online (KZ3 comes to mind). If I want to play with other people in the room that's what my TV is for (plan on getting about a 55 inch LED soon). Some people that have posted here just do so for the sake of trolling and do not pay attention at the target market of the product. You have the anti Sony and huge f......supporters of other consoles with the usual " but..but this kills the social aspect boo hoo" well duuuuuhhhh what the hell do you think it's for? For social aspect you have the TV, and this product is OBVIOUSLY meant for someone that wishes to be immersed in a game especially without causing a ruckus for those in the household ie, Deus Ex campaign with volume blasting and immersing yourself in the story, or choosing to just go online for KZ3. Again the hating is getting too old here, so if you're going to post add to the discussion, otherwise it becomes clear trolling based on post history. And thank you Disolitude for showing those links, definitely good alternatives to look at. BTW have you tried Deus Ex on the PC? And when compared to the first one, have you liked it so far? I personally have alot in about 4 hrs in that I am.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

That definitely looks cool. But what are it's side effects?

Nothing, its actually the more user friendly type of 3D. Each eye directly receive is own image at all time. Already have one of those for years. Doesnt support any of the new 3D tech though. I bought that about 6-7 years ago.

I havent had a chance to give Deus Ex a go yet...Street Fighter 3 online has consumed my gaming life since it came out. Something like Deus could work very well with these glasses.

Honestly, if they are able to implement head tracking with this, with 3D, and 1080p per eye resolution in the future...screw social gaming...this will be a total immersion package and only way to game. We will all be walking around our rooms blindly, knowcking shit over while playing Deus ex 4... :)

Honestly I think glasses free 3D is the future. This headset looks horrible, I sure wouldn't want to have people see me wearing it. But not only is it a bad fashion statement its priced through the roof, making it far less attractive.  I want the theater experience in my house at an affordable price without making me look whack!
