Thanks for the update, Michael-5.

With scores getting really low now it has become tricky keeping votes pending, as the points that are kept in limbo won't be applicable if the system they were for is voted off before the voter posts again.

Therefore, I'm now scoring the way Michael and others have scored with these threads:

If your minus vote is valid (even if your plus isn't), I'll count it, as it subtracts from the overall points of the thread's game. However, if your minus vote is no longer applicable, the plus won't count either, as that would just keep adding points without taking any away. This makes it far easier for everyone to keep track of points, and eliminates pending votes from now on.

In Snesboy's case, this would result in two minus votes for PS1, but since I just decided to finish the game by scoring this way, to be fair I'll only count one of those minus votes.

In the case of the remaining pending vote however (kivi95), since his minus wasn't valid I must revoke the +3 I had added to the PS2.

You are actually doing the opposite of me.

On my treads I plain out say that if you plus vote a dead game when it's down to the last 10, it will plain be ignored. Negative votes for a dead game will be accepted after the edit. So snesboy's votes wouldn't count on my thread. Had he voted down the dreamcast after it died, I would count his plus vote after he corrects his negative. I also restrict voters to vote for multiple different games since the points are so thinly separated.

In the top 10, I never count half the vote. The vote is either valid or pending edit, never half acceptable.

I thought I remember that happening with Bioshock in your last thread, though; didn't you count the vote's minus for Bioshock even though the plus was not applicable?  I didn't think he edited his plus for something valid.

Oh well, anyway it doesn't matter.  I tried to do it more like you describe with this thread, but awaiting pending votes, people to edit posts, etc just becomes too complicated for my liking.  As long as the negative is valid, I'll count the vote.

I counted half votes then, but I changed that in my new threads (Best DS/PSP game elimination). It's for exactly that reason. Games/systems will get eliminated within a period of hours, if someone makes an error it's partly my fault for not updating, but at the same time it's partly their fault for not checking. I do let people know when they make an error though.

Want to join the new games? I need more voters, especially for DS (more PSP participants then DS on this website)

You are free to do things your way. It's your game. The main thing is that you let people know the rules and you follow them in your tally faithfully. That's what's important in the end.
