Forums - Gaming - EA: "Call of Duty will die in 2-3 years"

I have a feeling I might enjoy Uncharted 3 more than BF3 if the latter sticks with the changes BC2 made to the gameplay. Hopefully this isn't the case, as the videos of BF3 show a lot more recoil and possibly lower damage. DICE also took some (and emphasis on some) to reduce sniping, base raping, etc.

But man, after playing UC3's beta, I really gotta give props to Naughty Dog. They really took a close look UC2's multiplayer, which while okay, had a lot of fundamental problems. Power Plays make games fun, even if you dominate the other team (and the same is true for the opposite). No more bunny hopping and just running around melleing people.

I really want a return to more slower paced tactical gameplay that emphasizes cover and precise aiming. No more WWI type shooters where it pays to just sit and shoot first.

I hope so....Call of Duty is just holding the Video Game Industry back with its yearly rehashes!!

Exactly this.

Can you actually come up with a sound argument as to how it's holding the industry back? Actually it goes someway to propping it up ..

Yearly releases with little improvement from it's predecesesors is rather simply put, bad.

what if there is not much to improve upon??

What are you insisting?

im just saying what could be improved in COD?? Without turning into something else, because IMHO, as it is right now its probably gonna be good as its gonna get. The graphics cant be improved that much, until the next batch of consoles come out. and the online will never be perfect either, but its pretty close

Uhhh what? The graphics for one can be improved upon IMMENSLY. Furthermore, they can easily improve game mechanics and what not, maybe look at their competitors or simply use more game modes.

Will the game still run at 60FPS with increased graphics? Game mechanics, how so. More game modes, they have been doing that, MW3 is gonna have a new mode. Multiplayer probably has more game modes than any other FPS ive played this gen

Oh ya people are entitled to their blind opionions, darn I almost forgot too! I suppose there's no point to continue this.

I asked you legit questions, if you cant answer them, then say so. Its easy for us to sit there and say something sucks but at least have the fortitude to say HOW it can improve. The only thing you gave me is better graphics, hell im not even that big of a COD fan

If there's not much improvement, there's no real justification for a new release IMHO.

And there's always room for improvement. If you can't make something that already exists better, then you can add a new feature. The Battlefield series's biggest investment was destructible environemtns with Bad Company 1, and I think that it's really paid off after improving it with every game.

Hehe. It's not very likely that CoD will die anytime soon. It might not be the best shooter out there, but it definitely is the most popular. I think that it's so popular because if you own the game for a day longer than a person that you're playing online, you automatically win since you have the gun that can kill them with half as many bullets. Putting my complaints aside though, I can see how it would be popular due to it's ease of use and overall solid gameplay. I just don't care for the unbalanced guns.

I see this series being around for a LONG time. It's kind of like the Madden of FPS.

Its funny because EA are just so jealous. Battlefield wont stand a chance agaisnt MW3 and i cant wait for it to get stomped and forgotten.

I hope they're right. I always hated Call of Duty and the first game sucked just as bad as Black ops and Modern Warfare did. COD is like a Jerry Bruckheimer movie. It's more an interactive movie than a game. It's dumbing down the whole shooter genre and sadly many big games nowadays are mimicing the cinematic presentation (like Uncharted).

You're comparing Call of Duty to Uncharted? LMFAO. They're even close in single player OR multiplayer. They're completely different in every single way.

Anyway EA said this last year with the release of Medal of Honor....didn't even dent Black Ops sales.(you guys on this site should know better than anyone)
