Forums - Gaming - EA: "Call of Duty will die in 2-3 years"

It does seem like the series is being milked dry, maybe EAs practice of alternating between Medal of Honor and Battlefield is the better approach.

How is alternating between MoH and Battlefield any different from alternating between Black Ops and MW?

MoH and Battlefield may not share the same name but they are still basically the same.

Well for one, they are a different series and to the customers, it gives more of an option for them, since they aren't being bombarded with sequel after sequel every single year. Which may be the better approach in the long run, but only time will tell.

Edit: Black ops and MW3 both share the name call of duty in their titles anyway. While MoH and BF3 do not.

I don't want BF to kill Cod because then EA would do exactly the same thing with BF as Activision is doing with Cod: milk it

This.

CoD needs to die, but not by EA's hand.

did no one read my post on page 2! Gosh!

This is not what I would consider PR, this is just trash talking and can't really support it. Sure MW 3 may have 60% of the market but if it sells more than Black Ops then what? Is it something to laugh about?

And I thought Skate 3 and Rockband 3 didn't do great aswell, two franchises that are also slowly going to their end.

doubt it

tony hawk died because really skateboarding did, that whole image in the late 90 - early 2000s is gone now noone want to be a punk skater anymore, its also not even close as popular on tv as it was

GH idk whats up with that and what happened maybe b/c you cant have laddy gaga and katey perry on those games?

it may feel dry to some but once the new engine for it comes out next gen and some pressure from the more realistic BF3 is felt i believe that next gen it'll still be as big

yeah the mud slinging is good its funny to read and applies more pressure on each side end result we get funny articles and better games

"Last year Activision had a 90 share in the shooter category. This year, Battlefield 3 is going to take you down to 60 or 70. At that rate, you’ll be out of the category in 2-3 years'

laughs out loud yeah and with that MW3 will still sell more than BO, b/c the so called shooter cat. is only gettin bigger, BF3 will not take anything from COD mainly b/c BF3 wont offer the same experience as COD

I really dont care for what Activision and EA say as long as it makes them develop better games. Both CEOs can kill each other for all I care about, because we will get better games :D

"CoD will die" is a bit much but I could see them falling to a much lower level.

Hmm.. some would argue the CEOs killing each other and better games DO belong in the same sentence

Envy is a deadly sin, EA.

Pixel Art can be fun.

EA killing CoD is not the answer we need, if they do kill them they will just replace the horrid monster CoD is with their own games doing the same tactics we hate Activision for.

Former something....

Everyone forgets how bad EA was in the PS2/XBOX generation. They were the same evil company Activision became this generation.

Oh well i do not personally endorse EA's tactics but nevertheless it is entertaining to watch two of the biggest and richest companies (people) fighting like a bunch of little kids. My &%#&(product) is better than yours. No mine is better. Just great.
