Forums - Nintendo - Which Wii Console model did you buy?

To make the Wii a greater value and mass marked appeal while staying at a mass marked price, which will give it even greater sales. And because we'll need more storage capacity, and Nintendo will have to fix that once Wiiware takes off.

Wouldn't a $50 price cut have more mass market appeal than onboard storage (which would be a pretty transparent change to the average user)?

I agree that maybe 20% of Wii owners (including me) are interested in whether or not storage exists, but not at the expense of the 80% not buying your console as much because the price is higher.

Other considerations: Console size, noise and paticularly power consumption would rise dramatically if a hard drive was added.

Completely unnecessary flame bait thread. Just lock this somebody.

On the off chance you feel there could be some legitimate debate regarding the confusion of the other SKUs why not talk about it in the topics already created for those systems?

 aww, what's the matter, fanboy?

The one Sony made :)

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

I just got the basic model at launch. Perfect in my opinion. I think they could use a bundle with WiiFit when it comes to NA but I really doubt supply will be able to keep up this year to handle that. There is no reason they are going ot change a  thing about the consoel until it stops selling out.

Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

*naznatips is exempt

Of course it won't be a hd. I'm thinking 8gb flash memory, or something like this. And 20% might be the number that cares now, but when Wiiware games come out and people have to delete their games everytime they buy a new one, people will notice.

I think that a company changing price and power of the machine often tells you that the company is worried about losing sales or already has.

I think an officially sanctioned, Wii branded and locked in (DRM*) ~8GB flash drive would be the best solution.

*So you can't run them off anything else or copy them. I hate DRM, but it seems to be the only solution here.

I don't know why they can't just keep a hidden system file that knows all the games you have purchased and let you play games off the sd card. Then your Wii could just look at this file, copy game from sd card temporarily to system memory and off you go.

2 PS3 SKUs were necessary, with a high end product like the PS3, the best way to appeal to a mass market is to release a cheaper version and in order to do that, Sony had to remove features. The reason the 20GB did not sell is that $500 is a lot of money, and most people thought it was better just to go to the 60GB as they are paying so much anyway

You know the line about assumptions right?  Go look through my post history and tell me what kind of fanboy I am.  I love the Wii but silly threads meant to goad PS3 and 360 fans into arguments should be stopped.
