Forums - Nintendo - Which Wii Console model did you buy?

OK, seriously (obviously everyone bought the same Wii), I find the fact that there are so many SKUs of the other products and yet the Wii with none and no price drops is the most successful very telling.

Do you feel the SKUs and price cuts of Xbox 360 and PS3 have been too confusing and uneccesary? Or do you think it represents increasing value to the consumer? Discuss.

Completely unnecessary flame bait thread. Just lock this somebody.

On the off chance you feel there could be some legitimate debate regarding the confusion of the other SKUs why not talk about it in the topics already created for those systems?

This made me lol quite a bit, but do we really need a thread like this? There's no way it's going to end with anything other than trolling and flame wars.

I think the PS3's were necessary and a 40GB model for under £300 for people like myself who have played the PS2 games to death was needed but the 360's seemed unnecessary until they finally managed to fix the RROD, only then should it be needed as they had all bases covered with their premium and core version.

The Wii will have another model by end of 09 I reckon with built in storage solution and some form of HD capability - maybe even improved motion controlls but until then they are happily plugging away building up the user base and playing it by ear.

Those people that think they're perfect give a bad reputation to us who are...

"With the DS, it's fair to say that Nintendo stepped out of the technical race and went for a feature differentiation with the touch screen, but I fear that it won't have a lasting impact beyond that of a gimmick - so the long-lasting appeal of the platform is at peril as a direct result of that." - Phil Harrison, Sony

Well, this could work. Before Christmas stores were bundling Wii with games that won't sell on there own. Meaning that they were guaranteed to shift poorly selling software.

So, what shovelware got bundled with your Wii?

Nintendo will probably put out an even sleeker Wii with DvD support and bigger internal storage. Maybe we'll hear about it at E3.

Why would they? Would it actually get them more audience? What it would do is punish all the core gamers it is targeted at since we already bought our Wiis.

Ladies and gentlemen, I believe leo-j has officially freaked out.

Anyway, I doubt Nintendo will introduce a new Wii SKU when their current one is already selling out.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

To make the Wii a greater value and mass marked appeal while staying at a mass marked price, which will give it even greater sales. And because we'll need more storage capacity, and Nintendo will have to fix that once Wiiware takes off.
