I bought a 40 Gb about 2 weeks ago. I wasn't really concerned with backwards compatibility. I don't regret it at all.

80gig w/ motorstorm in mid to late sept cuz it was freaking $432 only.

The 20gb PS3 didn't get the love it deserved, maybe it was the black finish instead of the chrome? It's still the 2nd best PS3 ever.

I got the 60gb PS3 with a free controller at circuit city around when Ninja Gaiden came out. I bought Resistance, NGS and MLB theshow along with my PS3 purchase. I also rented some bluray movies and motorstorm.

60GB at launch in NA too, but I got it from eBay in May 2007 for $490 and free shipping. Short after that, Sony announced the first NA price cut for PS3 :)

20GB model , 2 weeks after NA launch. bought an additional six axis controller and Resistance same day.

soon bought used Ridge Racer from gamefly and Motorstorm on its launch day.

dont really regret getting the 20GB model, but wireless internet would be nice when I take my PS3 to my parents house

I bought a 60GB at American launch at Toys r Us along with my Wii(preordered at the same time picked up at the same time)
After looking at the game line up I decided to let it slide and gave it as a gift(unopened) a week or two later.
By me there was a sale in September for a 60GB PS3 + extra controller +lair or heavenly sword. Upon hearing about the 40GB I rolled the dice and grabbed my own 60 GB and heavenly sword though I returned that towards credit unopened about 3 days later for Ratchet and Clank(they actually let me trade it in without a receipt ^^) and I purchased folklore. I did this cause B.C. is important to me, originally I had decided to hold out for games and a silver model but the thought of the 40GB actually scared me into buying it lol

Thus far it's a decent console but I just don't enjoy it like I do my Wii or 360. I really do want to like it but thus far there's not much I like for it. I guess the feeling that I was rushed in a sense added to my discontent though.
