Forums - Sony - Should Sony step in on Versus XIII development?

Should Sony help Square with Versus XIII development?

Yes 31 42.47%

No 17 23.29%

Let Square rot 8 10.96%

Sony doesn't need Versus 4 5.48%

Buy up Level-5 instead! 13 17.81%

Total:73

I don't think SONY can do anything to speed up the process, sadly. I think Square Enix could do with some minor assistance though.

I agree that SONY should patch things up with Square Enix and secure exclusivity.

After seeing the footage released 6 months ago of the game, I think it's coming along smoothly now, it seems fairly far into development and I am expecting an Autumn 2012 release.

Yeah, the PS3 kind of already has that. FFvXIII has gotten to a point where it's simply too late for Sony to do anything. In fact, I think most people won't care if the game gets ported to the 360 and the WiiU. I think Sony should just give SE the middle finger and go to whatever they're doing. SE currently has internal problems that are none of Sony's business.

I would argue that there are quite a few people who would be royally pissed off if (let's face it, when) Versus XIII goes multiplatform. In almost every Final Fantasy fans minds (my brain included) Versus XIII should have been the XIII release and the only XIII release.

What does that have to do with Versus XIII going multi-plat? And I'd advise every Final Fantasy "fan" to stop being so brand loyal because the future of Final Fantasy is multi-platform. If SE has been working on the game for 6 years, then development costs for the game must be high so the chances of Versus XIII becoming multi-platform are extremely high, especially since SE have no reason not to go multi-platform.

VXIII is not SONY's responsibility ... plus SONY cant choose just to walk in on somebodies project whenever they want unless its their IP.

Nah, focus on something else.

the other answers i didn't like so i picked yes.

not sure wht good it would do for sony to go in and help, but if it does then i say go for it.

I may be a little nieve here but there have been no reports on them struggling with the game so much as the people involved were just working on other projects and vs was to be the game they went to when there projects were finished. (please correct me if i'm wrong)

I'm quite happy for them to take there time over it a slow burning project isn't always a bad project (i'm looking at you Duke!) the idea's seem solid and the videos we've seen look astounding i don't think we'll see the game till early 2014 but the wait could be more than worth it

i said yes, not to keep it exclusive but to just get the game to come out ASAP

In my post I said that I believed it would become a multiplatform release. How did you miss it? Also I wasn't saying anything about Final Fantasy fans  avoiding that. What I was saying is that many people believe that what Final Fantasy Versus XIII is should have been what we got as FFXIII instead of what Square actually released.
