Forums - Gaming - Policeman Blames London Riots on GTA

Grand Theft Auto? And absolutely no mention of "The Getaway"? Man, these Sony fanboys won't acknowledge anything Sony does is wrong!

stop making excuses, this would not have happened if the police played their games as well as the rioters.

Lol if they were playing Grand Theft Auto, they would be playing Grand Theft Auto instead of running around burning down buildings for kicks. People have to understand that video games stop violent behaviors like this because its a agent to help people unwind and get the violence out of there system.

What i blame is the crappy educational system, the lack of corporal punishment and the fact these people think they can get away with anything and do what they want. And to top it off the glorification of being a dum shit and destroying and killing people.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

lol once again gaming is the scapegoat for bad parenting and delinquency... the thing that really confuses me about this is how other media like movies and music hardly ever get the same kind of blame

Simple. These other media are not dominated by first and foremost violent products. If it weren't for FIFA and PES, it would look even worse.

most of the movies that do well are action oriented ones with shooting, violence etc ( the dark night was the highest grossing movie ever i believe )

furthermore wii sports is the highest selling game this gen by a wide margin

Avatar is the highest grossing movie ever. Titanic comes after it. While lots of successful movies have violence, very few of them have gore, like most blockbuster video games.

i've never seen riots in a GTA game

Didn't you have to start a riot in Vice City at a construction yard?

Yet for all those soft movies you speak of, there is always a timely phenomenon like the SAW movies to counter your point.

Everyone knows theres no such thing as violence in GTA games

The Saw movies aren't that successful. The entire franchise combined grossed less than the latest Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Of course, the SAW movies were never released on DVDs, Blu-Rays or the Internet.
