I'm gonna support Picko on this one. If Single Player games are his bread and butter, then Smash Bros really isn't a good selection for him. Like I said, Smash really shines on creating an intense battle atmosphere with multiple fellow players. I can't even remember the last time I played any of the single player modes.


That pretty much sums up how I feel.

 

@ MrPickles: Smash Bros simply does not fit my preferences in the same way that Halo doesn't fit people's preferences or how Final Fantasy doesn't fit people's preferences. Playing multi-player wouldn't really change my opinion that much because I don't typically enjoy multiplayer games :)

Despite Melee being focused on multiplayer, its single player is still a deeper experience than most fighting games are in single player.  I mean, what do the other fighting games have for single player?  Fight each character one at a time, until you fight the boss.  Melee has that in Classic mode, it also has Adventure mode and Normal mode (which mixes in some challenges along the way), it has Break the Targets (with a custom stage for each character), it has a bunch of different Multi-Man Melee games, it has Home-Run Contest, it has 51 event matches... in short, it's got many times more replay value than the rest of the fighting games.  Brawl is going even further, but Melee had quite a lot to offer when your friends weren't around to beat on.

Still, if you don't like fighting games OR multiplayer games, well, yeah, Smash Bros. is not for you.  :)

Probably the game i've ever waited for the most. When I heard they delayed it 2 months I was pissed off so much. Probably barley got pissed off all of 2007 till I heard that.

Just 1 more month, one more.. *waits*.. If they delay it once more i'm going to sell my wii and become a mircrosoft fanboy.

The funny thing about Smash bros is the way we approached the first one. Honestly, in my country you don't see videogame adverts of any sorts so we borrowed the first one on 64 from a friend but never played it for a long time. Too busy playing DK64 and lol. Biofreaks. One day my bro just suggested that we tried what was on that cartridge.
As soon as we started and we saw Mario, we know we'd been missing something but Mario, Yoshi and others fighting WTH!

We've all been in love with the franchise since that. That's the main reason we even got a GC and definitely why we'll finally get a Wii.
