Do you miss pass codes? you know these codes you inputed on NES generation games without a battery saveslot?

They had a couple of advantages:

_ Your saves couldn't be errased

_ Your saves were not console/cartridge dependent

_ You could crack the code and give yourself extra amo/life

_ You could have saves unlocking easter eggs

_ You could get a save past the point where you're stuck

They also had disadvantages:

_ You had to write them down

_ You could lose your piece of paper

There is some sort of resurgence of pass codes, 2 recent example of which are the following:

_ SSF43D codes to redeem figurine for spotpass (Tokyo Game Show Chun-Li: zAAkcHVbHk)

_ Mii Bar codes for the3DS :

One thing i'm sure off is that some games could really benefit from using these... I got stuck on the first PSP tales game... the first batch of UMDs had a bug where you'd freeze 100% of the time on one of the mandatory sequences halfway through the game.... kind of a game breaker ^^

Then again for an RPG nowadays you have so much inventory that a code would be very long.

Hell, no.

Nothing more annoying then losing your password book/paper.

The occasional "password hacking" attempt was all fun....

but they were just sooo much more annoying then save games.

That transfer code for Golden Sun, that was bloody long. I wouldn't wish that on anybody.

They were annoying and you think you have lazy ports now? I used to have Lemmings on the pc, running from hdd (10mb hdd at the time!), using pass codes....

Hell no! I still remember how hard was to introduce the codes of "Super Monaco G.P." on my Mega Drive/Genesis (4 rows and 16 cols of numbers and letters).

Please excuse my bad English.
