Forums - Nintendo - How would you advance the Pokemon franchise?

Reading through FPS_Dominators thread about the oversaturation of FPS games in the current market, there were also a number of people talking about how Pokemon has remained pretty similar throughout the years.

Of course, part of this is because it's a very good formula, and Nintendo wouldn't want to annoy the fans by drastically changing it.

However - is it a perfect formula? If you had the ability to change the main series of Pokemon games (not the spin-offs, because that goes against the argument that Pokemon games haven't changed), how would you do it, if at all?

Expansion of the Pokemon Global Link.

I only got back into Pokemon with B/W, so far the online side seems to be an interesting idea, part mini game collection (Dream World), part social device and apparently something of an online track with Global Battle union (no idea, have not used that section of the site).

The only problem is that they should give more control over Dream World, so the pokemon you encounter aren't just random but could be at least of the particular type or game so people have a shot at catching one that isn't available to them. Don't care much about the social network aspect of it, since it appears aimed at kids but the Global Battle Union could be improved for a more streamlined approach with a few more incentives for participating.

But as franchise, short of getting the Global Link or another highly popular spin off from the main series of games, I can't think that Pokemon can get any bigger then it is.

A new battle system.
The Pokemon battle system bores me.

A new art style would be nice too.

Make a REAL console iteration for once. A full Pokemon console RPG with HD graphics would be gold. No more of this lame Pokemon Battle Stadium or Pokemon Ranger crap.

Make it for the Wii U and it would still play like a portable since you can put it on your controller display. Or the controller could act as the second screen from the DS versions!

Black Women Are The Most Beautiful Women On The Planet.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

I want an end to random encounters. I also want the formula of the games to change. Have something different instead of the 'get 8 badges, beat team x and capture an important legendary before challenging the elite 4 and champion' formula we've had for a long time.

There are tons of things you could do to make pokemon a better game, the problem is those things would decrease the sales, people like predictable personally I get tired of doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over again but apparently millions of people don't people are pretty mindless and easy to manipulate, and most people are too inadequate for a real challenge so pokemon stays easy and stays the same to keep people feeling safe, and buying the same game for the 20th time

make it easier, pokemons should attack by them self you should also always win.
make more type of pokemon games like pokemon paintball, pokemon striker, pokemon party, pokemon fit, pokemon babyz
make it more cute, big eyes everything pink, kisses when you win from your pokemon
team rocket should be good and help you catch all pokemons
less cut scenes animations and no leveling up because it's unfair to lower level pokemon

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I always wanted to see it with a Tales of-style battle system, personally, where you can only have four moves wired in to button commands at a time, but it partly relies on your skill in manuevering

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
