JRPGs on home consoles are pretty much dead. If you're a fan of JRPGs then you can't be picky with what you get. I'm personally buying it because I loved FFXIII.

So JRPG fans should lower there standards just because there isnt that much to play?? There wasnt that much in the SNES/Gen days and those games are better than the ones this gen (handhelds excluded). I can only speak for myself, but i rather just stop playing JRPGs, until devs pull there heads out of their asses

OT, where is the option to wait till the price plummets?? Cause thats what ill probably do. and screw reviews those were the same fools throwing 90s at this game.

Some mag/site even gave it a 100.

Man, they must get paid really well ;)

And yeah, I'm ignoring reviews as well. With an avg score of 83, that game is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overrated.

It's got the lowest Metacritic score of any 3D main series FF. Heck, even FFXI: Online and FFX-2 have higher scores.

as of now yes...the information that Square gave us for XIII-2 were just simply amazing and this will be the first FF this gen for me!

You really care about mini-games and NPC's? What if they completely ruin the story, the battle system or the music etc. Would it all be worth it for mini-games and NPC's?

That's what they did in FF XIII... except they forgot NPCs, I guess.

I will be waiting for good gameplay footage until I decide... as of now, no. I have no desire to torture myself again.

I must have been playing a different game as I remember there being NPCs throughout the game...

It looks amazing thus far....however I said the same thing about FFXIII...so I'm going to wait for reviews and what the gaming community thinks of it....it's a shame because I've bought ever mainline Final Fantasy (since VIII) from Day 1 with no hesitation

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

That threw one or a few phrases, then you never saw them again. NPC's that run shops, give you quests, give you tutorials or hints, ask you questions... that's the kind I want.

No one is actually "lowering" their standards by purchasing FFXIII. People keep crying as if FFXIII is the worst JRPG ever released, when in reality it is more polished and better scripted than most JRPGs this gen. Sure, it deviates from the Final Fantasy standard, but it is by no means a bad game; it's definitely better than certain JRPGs like SO4 and WKC. And quite frankly, a true JRPG fan would be glad with whatever they get. Handhelds still have quality JRPGs, but I think the only way to pave a direction for good JRPGs on home consoles is by supporting at least the decent ones that are released, Final Fantasy being one of them.

In order of boldings... the third one is 3+4

1) Didn't think so. Turns out I was gravely wrong.

2) And I'm a talking orange crossed with Sephiroth and the morning paper.

3) I didn't even get a JRPG (or an RPG) to begin with. Unless you mean rail playing game, but for those, I have Virtua Cop.

4) A true JRPG fan already owns both handhelds. And JRPG's are never returning to home consoles.

You deserve a medal. ^^
