Forums - Sony - PS3 grabs 20%+ of the market !

@ AT

Lovely, prepare to be quoted on that :)

@ Shams

Home is a game/app also. Actually it's more of an app than a game, but still, you don't have to use it if you don't want to, but I'm certain that any and everyone who has a PS3 will use Home, while I can't say the same for Wii Fit. Price matters not in this argument.

Why do you think I said Wii fit would top the GTA franchise ;)

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

i can only think that wii fit will sell well but be USELESS

TOTALLY USELESS

40gb ps3 release
2nd ps3 price cut(80gb)
PS3 having the lowest drop off after holidays
PS3 selling over 8 million

Yes I was correct about all my predicitions. The only one I was wrong was when I said the ps3 would take off and outsell the wii in the holidays.

Wii at 17 million at years end
Final Fantasy: Crisis Core to sell 10 million copies

Do these predictions sound familiar? I am not going to go searching through your posting history to find more but I'm sure there are at least 10 more predictions like these which are completely wrong (and just laughable). These are just the ones I remember off the top of my head.

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

Well, I think Microsoft will have to drop their prices, especially in Europe,

Ahh... good old price fixing. The way Microsoft always tries to win. First Windows for $3 in countries other than the US just to hold marketshare from Linux (OLPC, etc.), and now violating monopoly laws in a group of countries well known for holding Microsoft to the coals. Let's see how that turns out. I hope they try.

Are you being sarcastic? Have you looked at Sony, they predict to be losing money on PS3 hardware until 2009 at least... It seems that losing money on console hardware is a tradition by now, except for Nintendo.

BTW, I believe "price fixing" is not the correct term for what you're implying by quoting me.

Your right, I was thinking of "Predatory Pricing" (AKA Dumping: the act of a manufacturer in one country exporting a product to another country at a price which is either below the price it charges in its home market...)

It seems the mods need help with this forum.  I have zero tolerance for trolling, platform criticism (Rule 4), and poster bad-mouthing (Rule 3.4) and you will be reported.

Nice, looks like the 40GB unit was a great move on Sony's behalf and it also shows how BC wasn't as important as once thought, now don't get me wrong I wan't my PS3 with BC but I guess i'm just in the minority at the end of the day.

Andir...M$ isn't the only company that does that...

As for Home, I don't personally think it'll be used nearly as much as some people think. The idea behind it sounds good in theory, but historically similar products just don't perform all that well.

The easiest equivilent I suppose would be Second life, which after being out for years on a PC userbase many times the size of the ps3 still only has 11.7 million "residents". Even with those 11.7 million possible users, they still have less than half a million regular users ("residents" who logged in within the last 7 days).

I guess I just don't see people hanging around in Home instead of playing games.
