X360: 16 - 100 million

PS3: 9 - 100 million

I think people are expecting the following week to crash hard. This still included the weekend prior to Christmas...

 Indeed!! It will be interesting to see how the sales drop off across all regions. Looks like Europe is really turning away from the 360.  At least the 360 should have continued success in America. Can't wait to see how the big exclusives perform.

 As for the wii I'd say about 300k sales for Japan so around 900k total.

You do realise the sales of the three Devil May Cry games in Japan have been 650k, 550k and 350k, while the Smash Bros. games did 2M and 1.5M? If you're going to be comparing these two, then healthy competition is hardly what I'd call it. =P

This seems to be how John Lucas works. First he makes a prediction that sounds completely insane (Wii sell better than PS3 after launch, Wii outsells 360 during summer, Wii does 20M by end of year) and people laugh at him, but it turns out he's either right, or so close to right that it's within the data's error margin. 

Sure some of them are way off, but I beat he does it on purpose to not make the rest of us feel too dumb. =P 

 True about the software sales. I was actually referring to the effect that games like those two will have on hardware sales. Since the wii has released most of its big hitters with the exception of mario kart and SSBB I think and hope that the first quarter of 08 will be competetive in Japan.

so I take that as the Japanese final numbers are slightly lower than the prelims

Well the source said within 15 % of 400K, so at least 340K
