Baldur's Gate II for me.

Nope, but unless Terranigma features beautiful prerendered graphics in a unique setting, NPCs as memorable as Morte, Annah, and Nordom, a full novel's worth of well-written text, and fun tactical battles, I don't think it could hold a candle to P:T. But then, nothing holds a candle to P:T. Except maybe Baldur's Gate 2. :)
Edit: Also, a soundtrack by Mark Morgan.
"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

Terranigma is a truly under appreciated gem. I still think Chrono Trigger is better. Terranigma is a 10/10 game, CT is 12/10. Tales of Phantasia and Symphonia deserve some respect also. Lufia 2 is a amazing classic. It got the hardest puzzles ever of all RPGs I have played. Dragon Quest VIII was my favorite in the series.
If you consider yourself a RPG fanatic play Terranigma.
If you have not played CT you can not even say you like (J)RPGs.

Greatest rpg imo is Persona 3, followed by Suikoden V, V had the best story imo in any game, but persona 3 is a game that hooks me in hours without even realizing it

What about if I enjoy some JRPGs, but found Chrono Trigger bland and boring? v
