Yes, and the Wii got exclusive Soul Calibur, Castlevania, Resident Evil and Dead Space games. Way to prove your point.

And Killer Freaks has the potential to be nothing more than the Wii U's Red Steel.

so therefore now you've aknowledged that developers did indeed throw significant effort behind the wii i must ask whats your point?

the wii could not handle the full soul calibur 4 or assassins creed or... so therefore specialised games were made exclusively for the wii in their place

"And Killer Freaks has the potential to be nothing more than the Wii U's Red Steel."

criticising a game before its been revealed properly... ok

Are you for real? Those Wii games weren't even remotely close to deserve being called significant effort. Maybe you should do some research before making such an uneducated statement.

Well, I am allowed to raise doubts about a game coming from a company like Ubisoft. It's not like you know much more about Killer Freaks than I do, so if I can't criticize it, then I don't see why you should be allowed to call it an upcoming hit game in order to prove your point. Their track record points more towards another Red Steel, that's all I am saying.

"hose Wii games weren't even remotely close to deserve being called significant effort"

please tell me then what were the devs supposed to do the wii could not run certain types of games the way they wanted at the time and so they made games which could run on the console ... if someone wanted the full assasins or soul calibur experience it was a given that they wouldn't find it on wii...

"then I don't see why you should be allowed to call it an upcoming hit game in order to prove your point"

i never did that was my point... we know so little that its absurd to judge the game as is

They are supposed to make good games, that's all there is to it. They decided against this. The entire point of this thread is that it is very likely that third parties will continue to not take Nintendo's home console seriously, but merely see it as a way to grab cash and funnel those profits into games that never come to the Wii U.

So far it looks like the best Nintendo fans can hope for are 1:1 ports of 360 and PS3 games and even that isn't guaranteed.

"They decided against this" lol not being provided the tools to make the games as they want is deciding against? if you wanted certain types of games without having to buy the required consoles you should be angry at nintendo for not providing the required tools for said games

It was possible to make good games on the PS2, surely you aren't going to dispute this.

true same applies to the wii and just like the ps2 it got both good and bad third party games

Let's put this to the test, shall we?

Name eight Wii third party games that are about as good as the best ones the PS2 had to offer.

what is the criteria for rating? bare in mind that wii games such as zumba fitness and just dance even though they sell well and are rated well are not my cup of tea even though i accept that other people like them... and thats the fundamental problem with what you're asking

Your personal opinion, because using any other criteria would pretty much prevent eight Wii games being named. But if you can think of something other than your personal opinion, you are free to go with that.

i'd definitely go with the ps2 as it has probably the best third party line up in history imo so what?

@o_O.Q your trippin if you think 3rd party developers put as much effort into the wii as the ps3 or 360.

didn't say that but nintendo didn't provide them with the adequate tools to make their games as they wanted so what were they supposed to do? make simpler games to run on wii and make the more complex games for the consoles that can run them that way you get games on all the platforms.... regardless of whether people want to accept it or not games like skyrim or arhkam city or battlefield 3 etc would not run on the wii from the standpoint of power and also because the control itself is lacking for certain types of games therefore different games are made to run on the wii

So there's no eight Wii third party games that can compete with the best the PS2 got?

Previously you said that the Wii, just like the PS2, got good and bad third party games. Remember, in the first place I said that third parties decided against putting good games on the Wii and you loled at that. Now you've already conceded that the Wii's hardware didn't prevent good games being made for the platform, so the only way their absence can be explained is that it was a deliberate decision by third parties to not put good games on the Wii which is exactly what I said.

Eight isn't a big number, the Wii had probably more than 1,000 third party titles released for it. But if you struggle to come up with that amount of games, then it can only mean that I was right.

fine no more heroes 1 and 2, the conduit 1 and 2, CoD black ops, de blob, golden eye and red steel 2 were good games

I mean the games Ubisoft is proud of, their real games. Not sloppy ports, but games that are just as good as the best they put on Microsoft and Sony home consoles.

you mean games like assassin's creed that nintendo's console can't even run anyway? btw who says they aren't proud of just dance? that guy you posted sounds pretty proud of it to me

Games like Assassin's Creed that the Wii U can most definitely run. I don't see them coming to Nintendo's HD console, I already said that in the original post.

I doubt that they are proud of Just Dance. Sure, they are happy that its sales allow them to make more HD games, but proud? No, I don't think so.

ubisoft is making an exclusive assassin's creed for wii u :

http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/18/assassins-creed-wii-u-title-isnt-revelations/

in addition to a brand new ip exclusive to wii u

yup ubisoft does nothing but screw over nintendo gamers...

Didn't they just cancel Assassin's Creed 3DS?
