I like it, but those 40,000 and 110,000 are a bit odd. Why don't we go with numbers that are easier to remember like 50,000 and 100,000?

Something like:

...

Rank 6 - 10,000
Rank 7 - 20,000
Rank 8 - 50,000
Rank 9 - 75,000
Rank 10 - 100,000
Rank 11 - 150,000

...

Because to get from rank 7 to 8 (which is a big pool) is 30k, then to the next rank is 25k, then the rank after is 25k ... doesn't flow very well.

I know, I know. And as I said I like how the progression goes, it's just that it seems a bit "weird" to have a rank at 40,000 points.

I know, and I'd like for it to be even as well (OCD) but I think it's more important to space them out in a way that's gradual

Well i'm not very good with names so i'll just say what I think the ranks should be like.

EDIT: Actually I'll add the suggested names on from the OP on here too.

1. -- Goomba
2. 250 (250) -- Grunt/Peon
3. 1,000 (750) -- Zergling
4. 2,500 (1500) -- Ghost/Infected
5. 5,000 (2500) --  Boomer
6. 10,000 (5000) -- Headcrab
7. 20,000 (10000) -- Splicer
8. 35,000 (15000) -- Locust/Helghan Trooper
9. 60,000 (25000) -- Koopaling
10. 100,000 (40000) -- Hunter/Wraith
11. 150,000 (50000) -- Reaper
12. 250,000 (100000) -- Big Daddy
13. 400,000 (150000) -- Jedi/Deathclaw

Level 5 - Pass 6k (3k)
Level 6 - Pass 10k (4k)
Level 7 - Pass 15k (5k)
Level 8 - Pass 22k (7k)
Level 9 - Pass 30k (8k)
Level 10 - Pass 40k (10k)
Level 11 - Pass 52k (12k)
Level 12 - Pass 70k (18k)
Level 13 - Pass 90k (20k)

Level 18 - Pass 360k (100k)
Level 19 - Pass 500k (140k)
Level 20 - Pass 1 Million (500k)

Sadly a few odd numbers are going to be needed in the early parts if you want to avoid reusing the same amounts in jumps.

Signature goes here!

First off, as many users have been doing with their ideas, 15 or 20 ranks is much better than 10.

Second off, the only way to have nice and friendly numbers is pretty much a doubling system (with one transition number somewhere).

1. -
2. 125 (125)
3. 250 (125)
4. 500 (250)
5. 1,000 (500)
6. 2,000 (1,000)
7. 4,000 (2,000)
8. 8,000 (4,000)
9. 16,000 (8,000)
10. 32,000 (16,000)
11. 64,000 (32,000)
12. 125,000 (61,000)
13. 250,000 (125,000)
14. 500,000 (250,000)
15. 1,000,000 (500,000)

All but the transition level (level 12) simply double the previous level. Rather than just having some complicated ranking system, people can just know they have to double their points each time in order to get to the next level.

Also, my major complaint with the last system was 50% of the ranks were reserved for a very small number of users on the website. With these rankings, new members will find it easy to get themselves up the lower rankings. Mid level users will have to work hard to get their next rankings, but they aren't extremely difficult by any means, and there will still be 4 rankings (26.67%) reserved for the handful of people that put a huge amount of time and effort towards the website.

Far far too generous to low ranking members, also you're wrong about this being the only fair and nice ranking system.

You have about 4 ranks there for people who have put serious effort into the site, the 3 below that are people that are considered regular members, and the 8 below that are for low ranking members, this is far too skewed.

A simple doubling system is certainly simple and neat, but it has one major problem in that it's far too generous early on. The first 6/7 ranks are pretty much throwaways.

After thinking over your comment, I would have to agree, so I came up with a completely and totally new and better idea.  It overcomes the obstacle that my last system had (too many early levels), and also added more levels, meaning the mid level people will have even more to separate themselves with.

Yea, I've realized that, my system actually rather sucked, haha.
