No. The game has reach most likely reach its peak at seven million copies.

Sony is the only one who needs to though. |
They make enough having a large number of exclusives. I agree that they should bundle some games though.
The reason why Gears 1 sold so well was because it was closer to launch of the 360 and had great legs due to MUCH less competition. I remember when Gears 1 first released it was all everyone was talking about. Now you've got those same people who are going to be busy with MW3 and BF3; MW3 having a massive amount more appeal than Gears and BF3 having much better quality. With these two games on the market it's going to be harder for Gears 3 to maintain great legs. Not saying the sales overall are going to be bad (look at the pre-orders) it's just not going to hit ten million, IMO.
BenVTrigger said: Lol wow toastboy44562 I just went back and read your thread on the 20 million for Kinect prediction and had a serious LOL at many of the fail predictions in there. I LOVE going back and seeing threads like that where people have to eat crow. But on this prediction I just don't see it. I think Gears hits 8 million max. |
I love reading that thread, someone said there was more chance of hitler coming back than Kinect selling 20 mill ^^
Anyway, I'm completely open to the idea of Gears 3 doing 10 mill. It's clearly going to get a much bigger opening than previous games
CGI-Quality said: Both Halo 3 & ODST have been bundled, as well Forza. Unless "AAA" somehow doesn't apply to 90+ games on Metacritic anymore, that theory is false. |
Halo 3 wasn't bundled until a year and a half later. Sony bundling is when you need to give the game away free at launch for 6 months. Motrorstorm, Uncharted, Resistance...games that don't sell etc.
pezus said: Do you really believe that? |
Yes. Microsoft and Nintend have proven their exclusives sell without bundling, as proven by Halo 3 and Mario Galaxy/NSMB. Sony needs to bundle games like Uncharted, Resistance and Motorstorm because they're not blockbusters.
CGI-Quality said: If you live in a heavily biased, closed-minded world, sure. |
The numbers don't lie. PS3 exclusives have been most hyped undersellers of this generation. I remember this hilarious guy from these forums who said GT5 would "easily" sell 10 million and outsell Halo 3. But 1 year on it's struggling to get past six million - bundled from day 1. Perhaps you should stop being so biased about these things and just see them for the truth.
CGI-Quality said: I guess you consider Forza 2 & 3 given away free too right, as both were pack-in titles during holiday periods. |
Forza 3 mostly, Forza 2 no. It was already a couple of million embedded by the time that bundle happenned. But way to ignore Halo 3, 8 million+ sales before a bundle. Heavily skewed bias man, not cool.
CGI-Quality said: Uncharted wasn't given a bundle until about a year after it's launch (though it was never a pack-in title) |
Your lies grow tiresome. Bundled within the launch month (as was other commercial bomb, Ratchet 6 or 7) and given away for 18 months with the 160GB PS3. It destroys your argument completely.
CGI-Quality said: As for "games that don't sell", again, if you live in a heavily skewed world, that would make some sense.) |
NPD results = Heavily skewed world to you huh? Tsk.
pezus said: Be ignorant all you want, but that statement is just blatantly false. |

IMO Sony needs to make games people will rush to buy and not just give away.

Only sony bundles AAA games. None of the gears or halo games have ever been bundled with the 360 (atleast not by microsoft). Limited Edition consoles are not the same as bundles since those things are expensive as hell. |
OT - I'm not saying it is a sure thing but i don't think it is impossible either. should be close to 10M regardless of which side of the milestone it falls on.
