I'd have to go with Halo 3...
How do you say....... 'Halo 2 with everything shining way too brightly?'
Edit: I chose the game cuzz it was the biggest failure of the Microsoft hyping machine i've ever seen!...
The game plays just like Halo 2 (which was suckfest too btw) and Halo has been passed by several other FPS franchises that have grown and become better then Halo... Halo 1 defined console FPS and Halo 3 just doesn't cut it for me! It's all just people who loved Halo 1 and 2, 13 year old kids who think they are cool if they own Halo and people who buy everything that's being advertised much who bought this game (that's a lot of American's
)...

Halo 3 has an average review well above 90%......in a word, you are WRONG!!!!
starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS
How would you be dissapointed with Halo 3 if you hated 2? Were you anticipating a massive change in gameplay or what? Sense GET!
I agree with the OT's choice. I remember how Lair was hyped as a Killer App...What was Factor 5 thinking?
It wasn't him that gave it 90%+, it's his opinion and it can't be wrong.
Mine would have to be Heavenly Sword, I never predicted much from Lair, but this game I was really excited about. It was an okay game, but nowhere near what I was hoping for.
The only people hyping Lair were Sony fanboys, even Sony stopped hyping it a few months before release. The game got slammed but unless you orgasm at the idea of dragon flight games there should actually be few people with this as such a big gaming disappointment. That and if you work at Factor 4.5 (sorry, had to do it).

Failure of hype means failure to sell, not failure to impress. the point of hype is to sell, so our subjective opinions on the game's quality has nothing to do with hype. Since the game's launch gave Microsoft's game division it's first profitable quarter ever (or first in years), it cannot be a failure of hype.
Of course this thread is about what we think is a disappointment, but hype is not about that.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

All this from a guy whose favorite band is Linkin Park!!
I'd say Lair too. That game looked so sweet but was so flawed.
Lair seems to be the consensus. I say a minor disappointment was Stranglehold. Midway had such high hopes for it going as far as saying that it would be the best selling game of the holidays.
