Forums - Gaming Discussion - Capcom: We probably won't have permanant saves in the future.

Joystiq

Speaking with Capcom Unity last Friday, Capcom USA VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development Christian Svensson said that, given the upheaval and generally bad reaction caused by Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D's peculiar save system, it's unlikely that we would "see something like this happening again."

He also maintains that there was "never quite the malicious intent the conspiracy theorists out there would have you believe," and that RE:TM3D's inability to reset saves was a conscious design decision aimed at maintaining the "arcade fighter" feel of the title. Regardless of why they did it, it's good to hear the team claiming that it won't happen again. We're just dying to reset ourMega Man Legends 3 saves.

Stupid, stupid capcom.

Even Arcade machines could be reset by pulling the plug...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Good to hear they admitted the mistake. :)

Yeah, next time, test it on a blockbuster game and see how it flops because of this one save option. This almost killed RE Mercenaries launch just because people focused too much on that one problem. Im having a blast with the game, almost 30 hours in, it's just too good and addicting.

Maybe when the game was done and they have a meeting and someone asks, "What can we do to lower the sales a bit?" and that's what they came up with.

I wonder what through their mind when they thought it would be a good idea

So they DO have a brain!

Wow you guys are tripping its not that serious, anyway its obvious they werent gonna keep doing that.

Next time, they'll try auto reset saves.
