Playing MGS4 without playing the earlier games is like reading Harry Potter 7 without reading the former books.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Metal Gear Solid 4 for me loved the game play, story line and Snake is one of the greatest characters.

Gears of war gameplay was good ,story line was OK and hate the characters all on big and on steroids.

Anyone who's breaking the law is obvious a criminal.

Mgs 4 bored me. It was cool to see it through, but the dialogue was shocking. the poorly shot b movie cutscenes were way to long and unecessary. By act 5 it was a yawn.
Gears 2 knew it was tongue in cheek. And had more gameplay. Easily gears 2 over b movie.

I'd rather watch Japanese Soap Opera than watch MGS4 so Gears 2 for me...

I have not played MGS4 but GOW2 is not great but its a good game.

I didn't finish Gears 2, I got to where you're flying on the Squid things but it was a fun game. I tried several times to get into MGS4 and I just hate the game. It wasn't fun at all for me and every time I barely made it past the point where you meat the arms dealer for the first time.

Gears 2.

Dude try spend a couple more hours in the game. After you beat Act 1 you will be so into it. By Act 3 you will love it! By Act 4 you won't be able to stop playing it but by the end of Act 5 you will say it's the best game ever. Then you will start to play MGO. That's a totaly different story. You won't be able to get over the online.

I loved MGS4 and never even tried MGO. People still playing?

These comparisons seem rather odd to me.

R2 and Reach is odd vs say comparing Killzone 3 with Reach, and Gears 2 (gory, silly, over the top shooting TPS action online) vs MGS 4 (somewhat serious, stealth based TPS, tactical online) seems like an odd one too.

I've voted Reach and MGS 4 so far, but the titles are so far apart in some cases you're talking personal taste vs a sensible ability to compare gameplay, level design, etc.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

No?

I've given the game several tries and I really don't have the patience for games that bore me to tears the first hour or two.

I don't get it...

The arms dealer is right at the start of the game, you haven't even set yourself into the story or anything.

Did you play MGS1,2,3?

I got a little past that, that's just the last thing I remember.  I'm not trying to insinuate it's a bad game, it's just not for me.  I gave it two honest tries and one half hearted one and just never got into it.

The only other one I ever played was one of the ones on the PS2 but I really don't remember which one it was.  I didn't really like it much either.
