How about you actually try and justify why your favourite game is better than the favourite game of others?

Is it so crazy that a game that was better reviewed, sold much more and won many more awards is liked by more people? Oh the shock and horror.

Alan Wake had issues, it was hyped to high heaven and for many people it didn't meet those expectations, get over it.

I shouldn't have replied to someone who has the Alan Wake start up menu for their avatar.

LOL at the bolded. Did you miss the guy on the last page who admitted he hadn't played Alan Wake at all, but voted for Heavy Rain anyway? Get off your high horse and stop acting like these polls are the pinnacle of objectivity when anybody can walk in here and vote whether they played either game or not.

dude its all opinion you dont have to complain if xbox exclusive lost

Oh rubbish.   So far we've had Reach vs Resistance 2 which Reach won handily being the more popular title.  Then GT5 vs Forza 3 which GT5 won handily being the more popular franchise.  Zero surprises in each.  You're talking the market leader in exclusives (Halo and GT) vs much lower selling titles.  We've just had Alan Wake vs Heavy Rain which has been much closer but has swung to the overall more popular in sales and slightly higher rated Heavy Rain - again, is that a surprise?

Statistically, so far every H2H has gone exactly the way you'd expect.

OP - you need to get some more interesting stuff in here - maybe Lost Odyessey vs Valyerie Chronicles or Ratchet & Clank vs Banjo - outside of Halo (and Gears) most truly exclusive 360 franchises sell less or are less known that their PS3 counterparts, so assuming voting goes with the larger statistical install base the PS3 title is going to win most times.  It's the quirkier titles where surprises might lie and I'd focus on a few of those.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I have both systems, but I still haven't played Alan Wake.

And I think the voting system isn't really biased, there are an equal amount of PS3 and XBOX 360 owners on this website.

What about Gears 2 vs MGS4? MGS4 wiped the floor with Gears 2 (more than double the votes) but both sold very closely.

Note: I'm not insinuating anything. I couldn't care less what wins and what doesn't. I just like discussing my view on games and respecting others'. Maybe I'll learn something about a game that I played but missed a big part of it through these discussions. It could only help my enjoyment of games that I've played and make me want to go back to them. Just curious what your take on what happened there as you've always got some reasonable points to explain regular occurrences and anomolies

It's not just about the sales.

Gears of War 2 is a far more accessible game than MGS4, MGS4 is a very hardcore game, you only ever find hardcore gamers on websites like VGChartz.

Not only that, but the game was excellent.

Just what I was going to say.  I meant to cover the MGS4 vs Gears 2 but that's pretty much it.  You're putting an online, more casual (in terms of likliyhood to bother voting for it) fanbase vs a hardcore fanbase for the 4th installment of a very fiercly followed franchise.  TBH I think Gears 2 vs Uncharted 2 would have been a more interesting contest than against MGS4.

I think part of the issue with this H2H for exclusives is that outside of Halo and perhaps Gears I just don't think there's a core franchise for 360 that has a heavy, dedicated fanbase.  Mass Effect is multi-platform now and was on PC anyway, for example, Bioshock is multi now, etc.  Really I think if you take a step back and look at the libraries and franchises its pretty obvious for the big guns which way the voting is going to go.

That's why I think it'd be better to pitch lesser known titles against each other.

Yeah, Gears of War 2 and Uncharted 2 are fairly similar games too. They also have the same number of games in the franchise and they all released at similar dates.

And I think you explained it much better than I did, the majority of people who play Metal Gear Solid have been dedicated fans since day one. The game itself was announced as being the last main entry in the franchise as well.

Not to mention the game itself was absolutely amazing, I am a huge Metal Gear Solid fan, the average score of all the numbered games is a 94.5 on metacritic which is the highest for any game franchise I believe.

Anyway, there are many factors which determines why a game wins a poll. As you said, the games have performed how you expected them to perform, people need to stop pretending that the VGChartz community is biased because a game on their preferred platform isn't winning.

Heavy Rain, because it is good, and I never played Alan Wake.

Also, I just got another idea for a Head to Head matchup.

Kinect Sports vs Sports Champions (if it hasn't been mentioned already)

another thing, is this a structured tournament, or are you just comparing random exclusives?

Look at the OP. It's a structerd tournament.

Gears 2 wouldn't have gotten much votes. It would have died against Uncharted 2. Heck even MGS4 would have died from Uncharted 2. I need something from the 360 that can match up with Uncharted 2. Uncharted 2 seems to kill everything.

I haven't played Alan Wake yet. It's still in my backlog but i'll tell you what. Heavy Rain was flippin AWESOME.

True.  Uncharted 2 really seems to get support to match its critical praise and position as the big new playstation IP.  I'm actually surprised Gears 2 doesn't get better support in polls given its sales and the building hype for Gears 3.
