Forums - Gaming - Midpoint of the year. What gaming-related products have you bought so far?

And share some of your thoughts on the stuff you've bought. Doesn't have to be a paragraph; a short sentence will suffice.

I've bought... (I like to pretend people actually care)

  • Marvel vs. Capcom 3 [PS3] - It's fun and all, but I felt it was oversimplified. I guess this is somewhat how those angry, angry competitive Melee players felt about Brawl. And I'm still waiting for some DLC characters worth paying for.
  • Shantae: Risky's Revenge - Charming little Metroidvania-esque game. More difficulty would be welcome.
  • Moon Diver [PSN] - Characters can be hard  to distinguish from the flashy background, but other than that, no complaints.
  • Aqua Blue 3DS - Didn't actually buy this one. I got it for free as a birthday gift. (there's no way in Hell I would've paid 260€ for it at this point) The D-pad is awkwardly placed, the battery life is... Well, you know. And I still stand by my "3D can go die in a fire" stance.
  • Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition - Got this for free too. Street Fighter should always be played with an arcade stick.
  • Kirby's Epic Yarn - I don't usually care about the aesthetics of the game as long as it's fun, but my God, this is just overkill. The gameplay also feels slow, and nothing like Kirby. (Suh-weet soundtrack, though)
  • Mortal Kombat [PS3] - Favorite new game of the year so far. This is probably as good as a Mortal Kombat game can get in my books.
  • Metal Slug Anthology [Wii] - This thing is so made of win. Best thing on the Wii that isn't a Virtual Console game or Metroid Prime Trilogy.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D - Bought this one solely for the increased difficulty of Master Quest. It's just a shame it isn't available right off the bat.
  • Shadows of the Damned [Xbox 360] - As anyone who has seen a hint of gameplay footage can deduce, it's basically Suda's fuckedupness meets good gameplay mechanics. It's a bit too easy, though, as I'm pretty much sweeping through the game on hard.

You?

Around the Network

Valkyrie Profile - Having bought an NTSC PSX last year, I've been purchasing lots of classic RPGs that never saw light in Europe. VP is one such game and it is a classic. I really need to track down the PS2 sequel...

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon - I've been meaning to get into the FE series for a while now and I enjoyed this game. I felt the game was too linear, but one has to take into account that this is a remake of a NES game.

Rune Factory Frontier - Fantastic game, underrated IMO. It took me 83 hours to complete the main quest, but I could've easily spent much more.

Marvel vs Capcom 3 - Love this game. I played this game for one day and then went to Thailand for a week, that week's wait was killing me.

The World Ends With You - I can't believe I didn't play this sooner. European copies are often quite expensive, so I imported a US copy. IMO the best game Square-Enix has made since the merger.

Pokemon Black - Best Pokemon games since G/S/C IMO. I loved the new Pokemon, loved the areas, loved pretty much everything about it.

Aqua Blue 3DS - I'm loving my 3DS atm and I can't wait until later in the year when lots of games I am looking forward too come out (Mario Kart, Tales of the Abyss, Kid Icarus, etc).

Super Street Fighter IV 3D - Having owned the original SFIV on my PS3, I knew exactly what to expect with this game and it didn't disapoint. I fell in love with SFIV all over again.

Dead Space - I had been meaning to get this game for ages and I can see why people think this game is so amazing. Everything, the visuals, the sound, the design all creates among one of the most atmospheric games I've ever played.

Zelda: OoT 3D - One of my favourite games of all time, updated in 3D for 2011, there is not much more to say about this.

Tales of Vesperia, Crysis 2, The Tomb Raider Trilogy and a few sonic XBLA and PSN games.

...Not much, basically :/

i have bought:

Portal 2: Good game, enjoyed it well, haven't played the co-op yet, lacking headset and someone to play with that i would enjoy playing with at the moment.

Total War Shogun 2: fantastic game, pumped 120 hours, lacking some campaign options since they are mostly the same you should be able to also play as some of the weak clans just for fun. Online is really fun as well with a unique unlock system that is better than anything call of duty has to offer.

L.A Noire: Long game, yet to finish it.

Dragon Age Origins: Had to buy it because of school, barely could manage 10 hours. Not my type of game.

Cities XL: Bought it for my brother, not the same as sim city.

Dues Ex Human Revolution: Again long game yet to finish but is a display that first person shooters have declined this gen when it comes to engaging single player.

Just Cause 2: This is a pretty fun sand box, huge world, lot of fun things to do, but it suffers repetitiveness and the missions are slap dash.

Batman Arkrum Asylum: 7:50 heard it was good, couldn't lose, so i bought it, played an hour and stopped, have to give it another go.

What i want to get goes: Witcher 2, demons souls, red dead redemption, deus ex, skyrim, resistance 1-3, uncharted 3, bf3 and the list goes on. Going to get Witcher 2 or demons souls very soon to play on final hoildays week, i might get both since i haven't been bothered to play my games lately and i need something new and different and extreme challenge and RPG might do the trick.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong
