Depends on the country. Some of them have good beers (Czech Republic, Ireland, Poland, Holland) and some of them have something that looks and tastes like piss (German, USA, Austria)

Beer has an acquired taste. Anyone remember what they thought of it the first time they drank it? Probably the same as I had, 'this is gross'. In later years I've come to like it, well specific pilsners anway. But I'd never say beer has a nice taste, that defeats the purpose of beer.

Please don't throw in German beer with American.
I know there are some piss-like brews around, but there's also very good beer in Germany. Especially in the south.
