Forums - Gaming - OnLive In Talks To Collaborate with PS3 and Xbox 360

Wait, how can the 360 and PS3 exclusives all of the sudden become available to the OnLive platform? The OnLive platform runs PC games on giant server farms. These servers don't run PS3 or 360 games so there would have to be some modification done or make some new servers based on 360/PS3 emulation or dev kits?

I don't see the part about making the exclusives available to each other as ever happening, or even possible. This would just be for playing OnLive's PC games collection on your console.

It could happen, Onlive if i am not wrong, stream Pc game, So exclusivity wont be affected by it, the will only bring more possibility.

It could really happen

I sooner see each company rollling out their own similar service for game rentals over the internet or for game demos. I doubt either company would let the competitors games be played on their systems just does not make financial sense to me. I am a fan of onlive, I dont use it yet as I feel its just not quit there yet, but almost.

yeah then again they can team up for a service and limit the deployement of their game on the competition equipement... this is like one more paragraph in the contract..... not really a set back to any potential deals....

Think about this:

What if in 2-3 years or whenever the next gen consoles come out, you either have the option of purchasing the new consoles at 400-600 bucks (or whatever they end up being) OR you can KEEP your CURRENT console and play the next-gen games on them via an On-live type service for a monthly fee! Provided you have a fast enough connection of course.

That way, if you don't have enough $$$ to make the 400-600 dollar investment right off the bat, you can pay a monthly fee to still play the next gen games until you can afford to fork over the dough for a new console (or the price comes down).

Either way, Microsoft and Sony would win because they make $$$ either way. They could make the pricing structure so that either option would be profitable for them.

I think a model like that would be fantastic and could really work with the right tweaking and prsentation!

the actual topic they are discussing here is allowing you to play Onlive through your PS3 or 360, just like through your PC instead of using the Micro-console, they aren't allowing you to play PS3 games on 360, or vice versa

I don't quite see the point in Onlive right now, in a few years, but right now, I'm happy with my PS3, Wii, 360 and PC combo :P

you can play ps3 games on onlive so if it played through the xbox 360 and you choose a ps3 game you are playing the ps3 game through/on an xbox (and vice versa). I think that is what people mean

And what, pray tell, might those games be?

I have mixed feeling about Onlive.

The service is absolutely awesome and is pretty much the future but internet connection speed just isn't there yet. It starts to chug and degrade visually too often with my internet connection, which isn't bad at all. I can imagine how bad it will be for someone with worse connection...

Exactly...and then there's bandwidth limits set by your ISP provider. I have a 250GB limit and the last two months we have gone slightly over it...I can't imagine how bad Onlive would rape that limit.

I guess that means that Microsoft would completely stop releasing titles on PC i.e. Fable 3.  The first two Halo's had PC releases as well so if OnLive works with all PC games then I guess you could play Halo on PS3.
