Forums - Microsoft - Tales of Vesperia console "CONFIRMED"....

Smart move for MS, but it will be ported much like Eternal Sonata.

Rejoice Xbox 360 owners! Tales of Vesperia has been somehow confirmed by Motoi Sakuraba (my favourite videogame music composer, and one of the 2 guys responsible for Tales music) to be for the Xbox 360. http://sakuraba.cocoebiz.com/discography/

Now now, I really, really wanted it to be on the Wii, but I'm going to look at the brighter side:

-The game WILL come to America, simply because sales in Japan will be too low to compensate. That's what more than makes up for it.
-Now, I'm forced to buy a Xbox 360. Not a bad thing by any means, since I want to play all the Xbox 360 JRPG exclusives and multiconsoles with PS3.

...

*Sigh*

Again, I'm not sad at all, just a little disappointed. The fact that it will COME to America because it's on the 360 makes me feel MUCH better. Now I'm starting to think it's a good idea!

The Wii already has ToS:KoR coming for it. Two Tales games at once would be a bit much, methinks.

Plus, now we get to see what a Tales game looks like in HD!

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

MS stole it? Man you really are a sony fanboy aren't you. This is how business works, if you have an opportunity to 1up your competition, you take it. Its about profit not about pleasing a couple thousand gamers who want it multiplatform because they don't want to buy the 360. Anyway its probably timed. I'm sure sony paid for games before, so don't go thinking sony is some sort of nice guy thats looking out for the intrest of gamers.

And for the people that are saying ps3 is a better console for rpgs, you're wrong. Currently the 360 sells more rpgs than the ps3. Also Multi-platform rpgs sell better on 360 than it does on ps3. To be fair ps3 gots ports which lowered its sales but there is no evidence to suggest the new tales game will do better on the ps3. The 360 highest selling jrpg Blue Dragon sold more than many of the tales game in other consoles, so its possible that with marketing it might sell well on the 360.

Also people I would like to say in the future the ps3 will most likely sell more jrpgs than the 360 does because of final fantasy but I do not believe that Eternal Sonata will do that much better on the ps3, I atually think it will do worse than Two Worlds did on the 360.

On second thought, maybe a MS incentive is a good idea...for Wii owners. This proves Namco WON'T make an HD Tales without getting some sort of payment to do it. If they don't get paid, they'll continue to make Tales games for the Wii (and DS) without any objections.

While this is an intresting theory, nothing has been proven. The theory could be true considering the fact tales games don't sell that well, so making a HD version seems kind of odd considering the sales numbers. So its entirely possible that microsoft helped make the game to offset some of the costs and to make the game an exclusive or timed exclusive.

Anyway i'm waiting for the offcial announcement and soriku, if this game comes out for the 360 only you are welcome to borrow my xbox  though it would mostly likely be a timed exclusive anyway.

Wow so why would Namco want to put a game out on a system they know the game will flop on?

Yea I don't see this as an official confirmation yet. I'll wait for Namco to state it, not this. I mean it makes it more lean towards PS360, but Namco isn't dumb enough to put a big series like Tales on the 360, where it will most likely flop.

Because MS more than likely gave Namco some sort of incentive. I mean given the PS3's less than stellar performance in Japan, it can't be too hard for MS to keep getting exclusivity. Has a third party exclusive managed to exceed expectations in Japan on PS3 yet? I mean if MS foots the development costs, Namco makes money no matter how many units the game sells.

Edit: I am so sick and tired of MS getting deriding for "dirty tactics" for buying exclusives. Sony used the same tactics to get to the number one position in the market and no one cared. When MS does it, there is a problem. Hypocrisy strikes yet again.

?

The only RPG they share is Oblivion, and that was a launch PS3 game......by the time it came out, everyone who wanted it, played it, basically. And what did Eterna Sonata sell, with an install base of 15 million? 180k. What about Folklore? 130k on an install base of 8 million.

These are the only real numbers you have when it comes to RPG comparisons between the two systems. And after you do the calculation, you'll see that if the trends continue, the PS3 would sell almost twice as many RPGs.

LOL Soriku in denial, but what a stupid move to 360, that's just plain idiotic.

@ctk

I agree, either the wii or ps3, they are going to loss money on this game because of the exclusivity to the Xbox. LO didnt even break 80k.

ITs on its 3rd week leo and will most likely break 100k easily

Yea sure..

Good to see that the Xbox 360 are getting RPG's, but it hasn't done anything in America or Japan. Lost Odyssey was proven to be the top dog RPG and it failed to present that. Selling lower than Blue Dragon.

And now Namco is taking a gamble making a Tales game for the Xbox 360. Will they return profit? I hope so, because Japan sure as hell is not going to get a 360 just for this game and well America, RPG's are not fairing well here.
