Sony is planning another Gamescom barnstormer – with a PlayStation 3 price cut on the cards. An announcement is expected at the August event in Cologne. Trade insiders are hoping for an RRP of £199.99, with retail prepared to go to £179.99.

This would be insane. I really think it will only be a 50 dollar cut though.

ill stick to the 249€ theory.. hell would break loose if less. (which would be awesome, but Sony lost tons on Money with the PS3s pricing the first Years.. )

its already 199 on Amazon.co.uk has been all year, Hopefully a drop to 179.99 will happen tho with a retail price war, no one seem to bothered to compete with amazon at the moment.

If new model is unpiratable for first few months they could go with 199 tied to Uncharted 3 release.

Or 249 with U3 bundled.

it has dropped to £200 before on special events for a limited time, but right now, I think its really needed, the PS3 price is just too high right now to properly compete with the Wii and 360 in the UK, if they dropped it to £200 retail, and it dropped to £180 through market competition, then I can see its sales exploding in the UK

mainland Europe should also see similar sales explosions and I can't wait to see the after affects, PS3 sales in America should go over 360 sales in America at least, if nothing but the short term (Microsoft will surely counter with a 360 price cut to maintain the lead over there)
