Take a good look at all the big games announced for 2012. Aren't most of them sequels to games released in 2007?

Halo 3 - Halo 4
Mass Effect - Mass Effect 3
Bioshock - Bioshock Infinite
Assassin's Creed - Assassin's Creed 3
Ninja Gaiden Sigma - Ninja Gaiden 3
Warhawk - Starhawk
Tom Clancy's GRAW 2 - Future Soldier (if it doesn't release this fall)
Super Paper Mario - Paper Mario 3DS

I mean not every big game of 2007 sees a sequel in 2012. Uncharted 3 is a 2011 game, Pokemon is also a 2011 game, and Super Mario 3DS is also likely a 2011 game, but first 3/4 games above were the best rated games of the year, and now they are looking to be the biggest games of 2012.

Also some of 2006's biggest games see a sequel in 2011. The Elder Scrolls for instance.
