Just curious.  I have four PS3's now, three are only used as a blu-ray device and the fourth I play games on...

I am curious if the sales numbers would be significantly different had there been $199 or $99 blu-ray players all over the marketplace.

Without the BR, the situation may have been even worse

In PAL, very fews people bought a PS3 for the BR

 ummm... you do know that Blu-ray is taking over Europe (in HD format war) since the PS3's PAL launch right... even if its not used mainly for Blu-ray movies, people are using it for that feature. 

Blu-ray players are $199.99 now.

I did ofcourse I bought it to play blu-ray discs.

I have thought of buying one just for Blu-Ray but decided against it as I can't imagine using a games console to play movies anymore than I could imagine using a phone as a camera.

A HD gaming system with a Blu-ray player is why I choose PS3 over Xbox360. I will probably eventually buy a 360.

I bought it because I got tired of looking for a Wii. I figured it was the same price, since the only Wii I could find was a $600 bundle.

I think asking this on a videogame forum is a dumbshit move. The only person I know that wants a PS3 wants it for Blu Ray, but Im pretty sure her BF will buy some software for it(they dont live together yet.).
