I think they both are going to announce a $50 pricecut at Gamescom.

Sony would be fools to cut more than $50 cause for them what important right now is PROFITS not market share. If they cut $100 that eats far too much into their profit and would be a big mistake. The system is already selling great and a small pricecut would be perfect.

For 360 I think you see Kinect included in all models from here on out as well as a $50 pricecut on all models. MS already makes HUGE profit on Kinect as well as the 360 slim so while they could potentially drop the 4GB slim down to $99 I just don't think its the smartest choice.

To take effect in September then? Guess a date and I'll add you to the OP! :)

september $100 pricecut for PS3

hmmm what is the exact date of Gamescom again?  That'll influence my prediction.  I think Sony's Pricecut and MS's will both go into affect within a few days of the announcement.

Hmmm, I tend to fall flat on my face predicting price cuts.

PS3 down $50. I don't think they would be going for just 15M on a $100 cut to $199. That and they desperately need to earn some money on the PS3 ecosystem, dropping to $100 (and I don't care if it has a revision it isn't going to save that much!) will ensure it's losing on each system sold again.

X360 and Kinect all $50 off, so $100 off Kinect Bundles

X360 A $199 to $149
X360 P $299 to $249
X360 A+K $299 to $199
X360 P+K $399 to $299

Kinect is their focus for sales now, so to people looking for that at xmas, it will have got a $100 cut. Wheras the 360 itself doesn't really need as much of a cut, $149 is cheap enough for the core. Also $149 Arcade vs $50 more for Kinect? You're going to pick the Kinect one, that's what MS want.

I don't think they will phase out all non 360's ...

That's my guess! I'm thinking they are announced at Gamescom to take effect in September. The only thing throwing me off is the 360 Gears of War 3 bundle which is still at $400, but if there is a price cut are they going to lower that price to $349 where it should be? Or is that a sign that the price cut will be after Gears 3 releases?

I have wondered this same thing when trying to pick a date. Gears of War releases on Sept.20th. So it could be they drop the price of the Gears console from $399 to $349. If indeed the MS price cut comes near or around September you have to wonder.

I think immediate, at least for MS, they're capable of having the new systems in stores the day after their announcement (new bundles ect) don't need to pointlessly announce it weeks in advance ...
