Forums - Gaming - Do you, Sony and Microsoft see a future in Motion Control?

Every standard Nintendo introduced into consoles was adopted and imitated by their competitors and this will be no different.

Sony already acknowledged Nintendo's leadership by making the SIXAXIS in the first place. The same that they did with the Dual Analog and Dual Shocks in the wake of the Nintendo 64's controls.

Microsoft will follow suit just the same. That controller is workable but it's just too damn old. A standard Nintendo created in 1983 & evolved over the years is what 360 players play with. After you see the beauty of motion controls and what it does for expansion in gameplay and game concepts you won't be able to look at it quite the same.

But THIS time the competitors won't be able to steal their glory like they did when Nintendo was low on the totem pole of home console respect. Wii will be too strong & the imitators just won't look believable. Nor do I think it would work as well as the Wiimotes do. But Wiimote imitators are coming and unlike last time people will see right through them. 'Cause it's not just about the control alone, it's about the whole philosophy behind the system why Wii sells what it does.

The Wiimote is the new standard. FACT. Once again Nintendo makes the standards. They are the true controllers of the industry.

IMHO, if the Wii wins this generation, and it's more than likely, the oher two are doomed this generation and the next one too.
I was anxious at year's start, when I saw Nintendo strategy unwind itself. This anxiety was caused by cognitive dissonance in my very self. Actually, I felt like playing a strategy RPG (say Fire Emblem) or Chess. The cognitive dissonance was caused by the fact that I knew what Nintendo was doing when they said they didn't compete with the others (mocking them, praising them so they look away while they are destroyed), but I thought that if I knew it, MS and Sony should know it too, and they couldn't be so stupid. I couldn't believe it when both Sony and MS did exactly what they were supposed to do to let Nintendo succeed, and the most amazing thing was that they were compelled to do it. Like a good Chess master, Nintendo manoeuvered them like puppets. I'm still amazed at their mastery.

There's no 'if' ookaze. Wii won before the gen started. They have won. They are the winners NOW.

But I had to quote these words from you because hit on right what I've been saying about Nintendo's claim of "not competing" with the others. The ultimate backhanded compliment and just like you said the competition fell for it like Urkel over an armchair. Played right into their hands. When the execs were beating each other to the punch saying Wii would make a nice secondary console to their own in order to downplay its power I was like "Wow." The fact that someone actually touted "Wii60"  was dumbfounding. Did they not realize what they were doing?!

Nintendo is STILL a playing card company and they keep that poker face constant while they slyly undo their opponents with the right plays. They know how to work the cards and just like you said..."mastery" They are a master.
