IMHO, if the Wii wins this generation, and it's more than likely, the oher two are doomed this generation and the next one too.
I was anxious at year's start, when I saw Nintendo strategy unwind itself. This anxiety was caused by cognitive dissonance in my very self. Actually, I felt like playing a strategy RPG (say Fire Emblem) or Chess. The cognitive dissonance was caused by the fact that I knew what Nintendo was doing when they said they didn't compete with the others (mocking them, praising them so they look away while they are destroyed), but I thought that if I knew it, MS and Sony should know it too, and they couldn't be so stupid. I couldn't believe it when both Sony and MS did exactly what they were supposed to do to let Nintendo succeed, and the most amazing thing was that they were compelled to do it. Like a good Chess master, Nintendo manoeuvered them like puppets. I'm still amazed at their mastery.

There's no 'if' ookaze. Wii won before the gen started. They have won. They are the winners NOW.

But I had to quote these words from you because hit on right what I've been saying about Nintendo's claim of "not competing" with the others. The ultimate backhanded compliment and just like you said the competition fell for it like Urkel over an armchair. Played right into their hands. When the execs were beating each other to the punch saying Wii would make a nice secondary console to their own in order to downplay its power I was like "Wow." The fact that someone actually touted "Wii60"  was dumbfounding. Did they not realize what they were doing?!

Nintendo is STILL a playing card company and they keep that poker face constant while they slyly undo their opponents with the right plays. They know how to work the cards and just like you said..."mastery" They are a master.
