Personally, I doubt much will change next year, Nintendo will still be in the lead, 360 in second and PS3 in third. Only way PS3 would over take the 360 is if it sold twice as many every single week next year at the very least, and personally I just don't see that happening.

How can you possibly think the PS3 will pass X360 next year? There's optimism and then there's just plain stupidity. Let's assume the 360 sells only 6 million next year like you anticipate and gets to 22 million, which is completely ridiculous seeing as it sold close to 8 million this year and Microsoft has far more room for price cuts next year.

Even if that were true and the PS3 would sell 14 million next year as you hope you honestly expect it to outsell the 360 by 8 million units next year? 8 million units over 52 weeks means the PS3 has to beat the 360 by an average of 150,000 units a week. Last year the PS3 sold over 150,000 15 weeks out of the entire year and you expect it to not only match the 360 but outsell it by 150,000?

And this isn't just to call you out ssj12, i've seen numerous people insinuate the PS3 gets to 2nd place in '08 including KBG29 in this topic and Crazzyman everywhere before he was banned. I simply can't understand the reasoning behind it so please explain because from the numbers i've listed above the PS3 has no chance of catching up till at least 2009.

Anyway my own predictions are in my sig, the Wii one in particular i know i'm probably overestimating anticipating an increase in production and continued demand due to WiiFit and Smash Bros. It could definitely end up selling less but I once thought approaching 20 million was crazy before spring '08 and I don't want to underestimate them again.

Sure but it is possible whereas his old prediction of the Wii having sold only 28 millions by end of 08 was crazzily unlikely.

SSJ12, I wonder what made you change your mind to add 8 millions to your Wii's expected sales. And don't pretend you were joking, the time to pretend that was in that thread (the John Lucas makes a conservative prediction thread) to laugh at all of us that bit it but you said you expected it to slow down in 08 (and it matches with your posting history unlike e.g. Rol and his Wii bingo thread).

 Actually you are being pretty conservative as it is quite doable as long as they increase production this summer to about 2.5M.

 The least conservative prediction would be John Lucas's as he predicted 60M Wiis sold by the end of 2008 which would need a near doubling of the production NOW or a tripling of it in the middle of the year; neither of which a conservative company like Nintendo is likely to do even if they could source enough components (like Broadway, hollywood and 1T-SRAM).

I agree, it would be 3 millions in a year which is extremely unlikely.

On the other hand 27 million is only slightly less unlikely as it would necessitate a 70% rise year on year when the 360 kept very similar year on year sales so far even with more good games, including their biggest 1st party game in Halo 3.

 My predictions:

Wii: 42-45m likely with 45-50 if Nintendo's next production increase puts it near 3M a month.

360: 23m a bit better than this year thanks  to GTA4. Could be a lot better if the cut the Arcade to $200 and the premium to $250.

PS3: 17m on par with the 360. GTA4 effect less pronounced than on 360 and no significant price cut this year (although Sony surprised me last year but I would be bloody floored if the repeated that this year).

DS: 88m a bit less sales than this year but still phenomenal

PSP: 38m same prediction as you, it probably hit its peak last year (DS too I think) so a bit less.

PS3 will not pass 360 in 08. Maybe early to middle 09? PS3 and Wii could be really close in 09-10
