How Final Fantasy XIII-2 Will Be Different From Final Fantasy XIII

While it sold well, Final Fantasy XIII came under fire from fans who felt the game was too linear. When I met with Yoshinori Kitase, Producer on Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII-2, I asked him if the reception of Final Fantasy XIII affected development of the sequel.

"We made Final Fantasy XIII with the concept of a story driven game. So much so, some gamers were not very happy with it and criticized XIII and said the game progression was too linear and the world could be more populated," Kitase replied rather honestly. "With Final Fantasy XIII-2, we wanted to present a completely different experience with this game. There is more exploration and elements in the environment to interact with."

Final Fantasy XIII-2 was designed with multiple playthroughs in mind, Kitase explained. The game will have multiple endings for players to discover, as well. Check back tomorrow for more on Final Fantasy XIII-2 when our interview goes live.

good multi playthroughs is a plus. I never felt any reason to do 13 over again.

YEs multiple playthroughs is a good thing, FFXIII had no replay value at all so this is a good thing. But I need to know what multiple playthroughs encompasses, if its something like Nier did awesome, if its just new game plus meh

Even a New Game+ on FFXIII would have made it great for a multiple playthroughs

I'm actually rather interested in this now since XIII had on reason to be played again after you beated it.

Is this still Final Fantasy?? I have no idea why they keep wanting to make the game into something else... They should just change the whole damn name.

You forgot the horrible writing, easy difficulty, bland characters, useless dresspheres, etc.

There's no hope for the story due to Toriyama. The 3rd Birthday was awful; one, if not the worst story this gen. The campaign better be short if they have multiple playthroughs in mind or something.

Not one of, its THE worst story this gen, maybe worst of ALL TIME! Add with the no 2nd joystick combat, easy difficulty and short game length T3B is one of the worst PSP games to come out.....the only good thing was aya getting hald naked gave me hard-ons.

But thankfully for FFXIII-2 they have hired a professional novelist to do the scenario writing (whichs hould encompass script, story I think). Jun Eishima did the FFXIII Episode Zero novels which were very good.

Hopefully we will be saved from Toriyama's story incompetency!!!!!

Edit: The last thing I said is under dispute now apparently, then just hope Toriyama is not writing the story lol!
