Back in 2007, I grabbed a Wii and was introduced to the fabulous world of motion controls.  It was pretty awesome.  Somewhere along the way, I became jaded.  Between the kinds of games I wished would be on the Wii and the kind of graphics I expected from this generation, I started to dislike the console.  At one point, I gave up on it and unplugged it.

Well, tonight I fired the Wii up for the first time in a long time.  It started with a little Wii Play.  Then it went to a little Wario Ware.  Finally, we played a little Super Mario Galaxy.  I approached the console without the expectations I had unfairly placed on it back in 2007-2010 and just took it for what it was.  The Wii U is on the horizon and I was no longer looking for the Wii game that would "Give me the HD experience" (like how Deadly Creatures and Conduit failed to do) or the Wii game that would "make traditional controller feel obsolete" (like how Metroid and RE Wii tried to do).  I accepted that what we have is what it is.  I just played with the Wii.  And I had a damn good time.

it might be an awesome console ,especially for fans of nintendo first party games. but i think wii has been the worst maket leader ever games wise.

Exactly. Many hardcore gamers were disappointed by the console because their exectations were too high. I didn't have any expectaions, so I loved it! Some of the hardcore games sell very poorly, even though I think they are very fun. It's a shame.

I find the Wii perfect, it provided me with awesome solo experiences with Monster Hunter Tri, and Sky Crawlers, but the most important feature is that its the best console for playing with friends. NSMB, Smash Bros, Goldeneye, Tatsunoko, Just Dance, Wii Sports, Mario Kart, etc. And its backward compatible with the gamecube, no need to ask for more.

yep cant agree more. i dont even think its about high expectations, just wrong ones. if you want "hardcore" games, go to the hd consoles. the wii has so many good games that are fun to play.

Hey, I also love the Wii. It's a great console. The problem was that many people expected false things.
It doesn't have HD graphics. So what. Most of the games still look lovely and the gameplay is fantastic. Several Mario games, (soon) two Zelda games, some nice RPGs... It has everything I want.
If now it only was region free... that's probably the only gripe I have with the console.

I agree. I love the wii for what it is and for its games... People had too many things in mind when the wii came out, bad graphics, bad online, fail this fail the other but they forgot that games are supposed to be fun. Playing smash with friends is amazing, mario kart a blast, no more heroes 1 & 2 awesome, MH3 is huge, mario galaxy is beautiful and the list continues...

Mine is still played everyday. PS3 might be technically on more, but that has more to do with its bluray player and that I use it for netflix. As a gaming machine, Wii is used far more.
