Forums - Sony - IGN: Holy Crap, Go Play PlayStation Home

Scribble Shooter is awesome and ready for you on Sony's social service.

PlayStation Home has dedicated fanbase that goes online, buys virtual items, dances and socializes, but it's definitely not something everyone plays. I'm telling you to change that -- at least for a day -- because Home's currently packing a demo for Scribble Shooter, and this 2D shoot'em up is one of my favorite games of E3 2011.

And even when the full game's available, it'll only be coming to PlayStation Home.

Admittedly, Scribble Shooter is simple, but that's what makes it so endearing. The crayon art is drawn by the developer's (at the time) 12-year-old son, the sound effects are all made by someone's mouth, and everything's played over a white sheet of paper (complete with a coffee cup ring).

I chose a boss to fight my way to, took to the sky, and blasted everything in sight. Along the way I grabbed power-ups that gave me a shield and a spreadshot, but I really dug the art and sounds. It was just so clever and fun.

You don't have to take my word for it, though. E3's about over so it'd be hard to play it in LA, but if you sign into PlayStation Home, you can play the Scribble Shooter demo. Go to the PlayStation Home version of Sony's E3 booth, watch every trailer, and you'll get access to the VIP level upstairs that houses the Scribble Shooter arcade cabinet.

The full Scribble Shooter game will be available this summer, but even then, the game will only be available in PlayStation Home. No word yet on whether it'll be free to play, but if it isn't, I demand PlayStation Network Trophies.

The Scribble Shooter demo was actually quite fun, did not expect to see it there.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

i might actually have to check this out.

Playstation All-Stars is one of the best games I've played this gen, and is the most fun I've had in a game this gen.

Children's talent at it's best.

I went on Home right after the outage and, while it still didn't suck me in, I could see the differences between the last time I went on (Christmas 2008, I believe) and now. I won't bad mouth the free service. I'll just say I'll go online and check out Scribble Shooter and leave it at that.

I enjoyed it...but I still won't spend a lot of time in Home

Home isn't meant as a place where you sink hours into...

I am left feeling taunted. With the words Holy Crap, and Home in the subject. I thought surely this would have been in reference to something extraordinary. Perhaps some epic hack, or a major bug managed to creep into the code, or maybe users feeling inspired to do something extraordinary. I must say I did get a revelation out of this though. I think that IGN is fast making its way onto my shit list for taking far too many literary liberties. Talk about something way out of proportion.

I am visiting Home from time to time especially when I want free stuff. Like when the whole central place get replaced by Killzone 3 theme.
