Forums - Gaming - Huge Noob Question: How does game trading/selling work?

So here's my noob question: I'll go to the USA (New York) in a couple of weeks, and I have some Wii games I won't play again and want a new Wii game, so how does it work (Gamestop)?

I go and just tell them and they give me money for my games, or credits? Or I have to fill a form or something? How much do they give me for game?

I wanna trade these 7 games.

- Monster Hunter Tri

- Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

- Big Brain Accademy: Wii Deegree

- Super Paper Mario

- Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat

- Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz

- New Play Control: Pikmin

Are they enough for a brand new game?

This is a stupid question, but I'm not sure how the system works.

EDIt: Also, o they still take/ is it worth it to trade Gamecube games? Becuase I rememeber last time some Gamecube games (like Pikmin 2) were horribly expensive.

Not really helpful... but why would you want to trade in MHTri???

You walk into the store, bend over, and let them screw you over.

Not quite but, you go into the store with your used games. They'll look 'em over to see if they're in decent shape (and even then, they'll probably still take them). They'll tell you how much your games are worth. Sometimes it's half what you paid for them. Sometimes it's just a few cents. You actually have some good games so you may be in luck.

After you get your trade in value, you can get your game--or games. I think you can google trade in values to get a pretty close approximation of what you'll get. Last time I went, I didn't have to fill out any paperwork. In the past, I used to. Guess they got away from that policy.

I'd be concerned with whether or not they'll accept foreign copies of games. Are thry Region 1 games?

I did luck out once when I bought a few games from a video store that was going out of business. I bought a few PS2 games for about $8, each. I wound up getting enough credit to totally pay off a DS Lite! I think I got $60 for Shadow Hearts Covenant, alone. It was probably worth much more if they paid that much for it but I didn't give a damn at the time. I got over 7 times what I'd paid for it!

They are all America games, so there's no problem.

So it depends on their deals/how much games are selling? because in my list some are old or cheap games.

I hate it.

Well, not really, I've played over 400 hours already, and I just don't wanna play it ever again.

I blame skypiercers!

Ask BenVTrigger our Gamestop poster boy. You will get ripped off and they will suck out your soul give you 5 bucks and than go sell the game for $40.

Nope just walk in and hand it to the worker. He'll ring them up and tell you the values of them. Beware though, Gamestop rips people off quite often. I haven't traded in a game since the PS2 days because of that.

Ever been to the US before? You'll be apalled at how awful some of the workers at Gamestop are, at least they are here in northern Ohio.

I wonder why VGchartz does not have a thread allowing gamers to trade, sell or buy games from other members. I saw this on NeoGaf and it seems like a good idea.

I've been to the U.S.A before, sorry, but compared to Ecuador's stores, Gamestop is paradise

Also, is there any other place if you say trade values are that bad?
