Forums - Nintendo - wii wi-fi problems

My Wii is literally 2 feet from my router, and any time my girlfriend uses our cordless house phone, the damned Wi-Fi cuts out. I guess I'm gonna have to buy a wired adapter. My laptop, 360, DS, and PC have no problems at all.

The wireless phone is 2.4 Ghz thats why they tell you the signals on the wireless items.. Change the channel on your router or buy a phone that's not 2.4 Ghz and the problem will vanish. It should/will clear up nearly any wireless problems you have my Wi-fi downloads a NES game on VC in a few seconds flat. If anybody needs help changing their settings gimme a PM I'd love to help you guys enjoy your console more be it PS3 Wii or a laptop.

ehm never have problems with it

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!

bet with *no one yet* that the combined first week of Monster Hunter 3 in america and europe will be 600k or more! winner changes looser sig and avatar for two months!

never had problems.

In your router settings, somewhere in the wireless settings, there should be an option for channel. if you set that to either 1 or 11, it should work fine.

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

God bless you souixan! You've saved my relationship. Many times a day, I'd exclaim "Can you please get off of the phone! I'm online!" Those days are done. Thanx!

I haven't tried any online games yet, but pretty much all the other online things work fine, occasionally the internet channel won't load a page, but usually it won't work on my laptop either (I have to reset the router to get them working again, so i guess it is a router problem)

At my parants house I get no connectivity even though the router is a couple of meters away, but at my house I get great connectivity in the lounge, which is miles away, its really wierd

My connection only worked 10% of the time so I said screw it and I jsut bought the dongle. Best move I ever made.

Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

*naznatips is exempt

*sigh*

I guess people still don't know that there are compatibility problems between different WiFi chips.
This is not the Wii's fault really.
The router is the one that should have the most compatibility with different chipsets.
Beware of proprietary pseudo 802.11n connections. AFAIK it's not a standard yet, so there are several incompatible implementations. These are to be avoided and the most compatible setting has to be used.
Or you have the option of buying the ethernet adaptor which will work perfectly.

What's 802.11n? is that the successor to g? We have the cheapest router I could find in PC World. £45 and it uses 802.11g and b. It works just fine, even with 2 laptops connected it doesn't seem to slow.
Like I said it does occassionally need resetting, but it only seems to be about once a month or so.
