If you're going to pour resources into a sequel...for the love of God just do a ReMake...the only addition to the VII universe that I appreciated was Crisis Core

Leave a classic as it is and remake FF6, the one that truly needs it.

Ignore it, the whole story wasn't worth while anyway.

Each of these '-2' games, prequals or sequals, to FF worlds take away from the original stories and their conclusions. Just look at FFX-2 for example, at the end of X, both Tidus and Yuna made a big sacrifice for the sake of the rest of the world, in X-2 that was reversed and a large point of X's story ignored.

Exactly.  FF7 made Sephiroth, and later Cloud, seem like such unique bad asses with good background stories.  Then the prequels and sequels came and took all that away.  Now EVERYONE can jump 100's of feet in the air and seem like if the circumstances were just right, have enough power to take out Sephiroth.  Oh, and now there are like 3 or 4 characters EXACTLY like Sephiroth.  Way to make him seem so unique.
