Forums - Sony - Rumor: PlayStation Vita to Support PS2 Emulator!?

When Sony unveiled the PlayStation Vita this year, they didn’t go much into the details as to what features the handheld will have when it launches in early 2012. This year at E3, there are things that we’ve heard from various publishers in regards to a possible support of the PS2 Emulator on the Vita.

From the publishers we’ve spoken to, one of them mentioned that they are thinking of putting their PS2 games onto the Vita since majority of their games now are rare and it will be a great way for gamers to play their classic title on the handheld without the hassle of finding the specific PS2 game in stores. A term ‘PS2 Emulator’ was mentioned between our conversation about the Vita but when asked again about it, the publisher representative immediately changed the topic.

If PS2 Games will indeed be coming to the PS Vita, we sure can expect it to be distributed on the PS3, and PS Vita via the PlayStation Store.

Since we don’t have any official confirmation from Sony about this, we consider this as a rumor. We should hear more on what the PS Vita has to offer in the coming months as Sony will be revealing more of its features.

I wouldn't be surprised about this if it was true, but if it is.....................HELL YEAH!!!!!

Well, ugh... there's no reason why it shouldn't...

FFX on the go, oh man oh man...

Sweet fancy Moses.

i hope so!
as long as the roll out isnt as bad as the PS1 games...
but to be fair sony should have NO issue as the NGP and PS3 both have 2 analogue sticks so nothing needs to be changed like they did for PS1 games for the PSP.

just put 10,000 PS2 games on PSN for £5 or £6 sony and il be happy

Reality: we will get around 100 in the next 5 years and they will be priced at £7-£15

You lack L2+R2... so that'll limit the selection.

As in downloadable games like they already announced for PSP games... makes sense. Its worked for Nintendo's VC and it shows they will do it better than Nintendo in allowing you to play old school games on any device vs only the same type of device it launched on.

I hate that VC is segregated between portable and home.

that would be great if it happens. i probably wouldn't care if it wasn't but i wouldn't mind having it either.

PS Vita outselling 3DS confirmed.

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

Rear multitouch trackpack says differently.
