Is rise of mana on IOS any good ? It just got a vita port announcement from Square alongside Deadman's cross.

If it's anywhere near Secret of Mana then it's pretty big.

This game, if done right, could be a big seller for PSV in Japan. Make it the definitive version with extras and whatnot. Secret of Mana is a million seller, Legend is over 500K, and Dawn (which was garbage) is over 300K.

A surprise out of nowhere that wasn't in Sony's conference. Bodes well for more games being announced at TGS -_-

Not sure what Deadman's cross is though. Saw a youtube video and I'm still not sure. Also curious to see how Chaos Rings III will perform (it'll get a retail vita version right? If so, I believe that's the first retail CR game)

Hopefully decent, since it's a 4 game pack (CR, CR2, CR Omega & CR3).

TBH, most of the games announced have very high chances of coming over. Probably the only thing up in the air are Bandai and Sega games. Given the good performance of SAO, I would expect Bandai to start localizing their games. As for Sega, we can only dream.

Any source for this?

I tried searching and got nothing. Best we have would be PSN ratings if we could get some from users here. But yeah nothing from Bamco by the looks of it

What happened to it was Acquire sold the rights to Tenchu to From Software and then kept making Tenchu games, only they call it Shinobido now.

So that's what happened. No wonder they look so similar.

Theres more to this story that answers your question.

From software gave the tenchu series to 2KLLC (valhalla knights 3), they made tenchu 3, deadly shadows, silent assassins and Z. Fans kept clamoring that the first two were simply better and sales werent great. Personally i enjoyed the games, especially Z that really needed a sequal, but there was no denying that story was not on tenchu 2 level... and level variety and level editor.

Anyways, From software went back to Aquire and signed them for 2 games, tenchu 4 and 5. Well... what happened then was Aquire screwed them over. They have their Shinobido series and instead of making a tenchu game out of tenchu 4, they changed it to a corridor stealth game. Not only that but they retconned everything from tenchu 3 onwards as if saying they dont recognise what was done with the series.

The game bombed, From software was obviously pissed and i believe they are now making time for the contract of tenchu 5 to expire.

So yeah... if you want tenchu... Shinobido. Though the last game also didnt sell awesome, so i dunno how likely another sequal is.

It's supposedly very good for what it is. I'm not big on the art style at all, but if nothing else the soundtrack seemed to be Mana quality thanks to Sekito, Shimomura, and Kikuta himself. I'll give it a whirl in the 0.0001% chance they ever localize it.

What I want to know is, when will Square get around to porting Secret of Mana to something besides phones? It baffles me that they've repeatedly made FFIV, V, VI, and Chrono Trigger available on current platforms  over the years, but never SoM.

No source, I'm just basing it on the number of ratings. Comparing it to other digital only games, the number of ratings is one of the highest.
Battle of z: 2.6k / project diva F: 1,4k / ss delta: 669. Take note that battle of z has been heavily discounted and Sword art is approaching 1.9k and still increasing steadily.

Bummer. At least there's still a chance of tenchu coming back. Here's to hoping.

I really hope so.  The second game is really enjoyable, I'd like to see them take another go at it with a bit of a bigger budget.

But Shinobido is new Tenchu.  We should be hoping for that to come back again!

From (specifically Miyazaki) has talked recently about wanting to add more variety back into their portfolio instead of just being a Souls and Armored Core factory, so a new Tenchu is a distinct possibility. It would be interesting to see what From could cook up in that genre since they've vastly improved their tech and stature.
