I suggest that you get the old 1000 model, because of the better colours definition, if it even cost less then there's no hesitation...

But then, there's an extra hour or so of battery, a more responsive buttons as i've been told, a thinner and lighter model, plus an internal 1Gb of storage which is heaven for people going Physical Only. But there's that gorgeous OLED on the other hand, I wish someone with both versions could enlighten us more about it and give a definitive (personal) verdict.

I had the original OLED model, but something went wrong with the battery and it had to be replaced with one of the 2000 models. Having had both, there's quite clearly a difference in colour definition when moving from OLED to LCD. On the other hand, I appreciate how much lighter the new models are, and how much more comfortable they are to use - the back grips are much better proportioned on the new models (something that sounds boring, but is kind of undersold, it was a big improvement for me). I also find the new model easier to clean and I prefer the circular start, select, PS button. The improvement to battery life is also a plus.

So, as someone who had both, I would say if you can handle the downgrade in colour, the other features touted by the slim make it the preferable system to me.

hmm I think so too. no matter how good the OLED is it probably doesn't compare to my IPS monitor so i might as well stick with the LCD, as picture quality isn't really what i'll be looking for..

I've been playing Tales of Xillia for 18hours and got 1 trophy!!!

Quit yer moanin'!  I don't even care about trophies, I was just amused that they're being thrown at me in this game :P

First thing I did on both Vita and PS4 was turn off trophy notifications, so I don't even know how many trophies I've won. It helps me enjoy games even more than before...

I totally get what you are saying. But then when there is a Vita release that is exclusive (see Killzone) the reviews then all bemoan that fact they would rather play it on a home console. You don't see that for 3DS reviews. It's taken as a handheld title and left at that.

I didn't read many reviews for Killzone, so that may be true, but I do remember IGN raving about how it was the first great handheld FPS and Eurogamer being slightly cooler to it for other reasons while still praising quite effusively what it accomplished as a handheld shooter. So the impression I got was actually the opposite: as a console title it would have been merely passable, but as a handheld one it was something special.

That aside, if there is indeed a point where a handheld game can be so close to yet so far from console quality that it turns people off - a sort of qualitative uncanny valley - then it's a bad strategy for Sony to keep hanging their hat on that kind of thing instead of things like Tearaway*. And even if there is, a quick glance at Metacritic's highest rated 3DS and Vita games doesn't indicate that reviewers have been unduly harsher to the Vita on balance. I think the Vita's troubles are less about reviewers dislike of it and more about Sony's own apparent disinterest in it.

* This time with marketing!

Killzone Mercenary even got the "best Shooter Award" at Destructoid, and was runner up in others pages... actually was better received than ShadowFall on PS4... but certainly I have read (from particular people) that they would have prefered to play it on Consoles... I my self think is a shame KZMerc isn't in any other console, have played all the killzone games this is by far the best. Well, since last patches it added compatibility with VitaTV, I think. So technically You can play it on a big screen, not that will look better :/

@kresnik: Sly 1 is a easy platinum.. You get a trophy just after pressingstart on the  Title Screen... even my little brother (5 years then) platinued.. but the game I found it really enjoyable... and I'm waiting for the Collection on Vita to download it again and finish the second and third game and dig in the fourth...

On SSDELTA, until now they haven't said anything about the price of the game.. I hope is less than 30$ or just 20$

Best Killzone game so far is without a doubt KZ2. Then come KZ3 and KZM. Replayability is what makes KZM such an incredible shooter, but it has some weak points in other aspects.

Killzone: Shadow Fall is just an insult not only to Killzone fans but also to the shooter genre.

Well, Soul Sacrifice Delta is almost here, finally! I've been waiting ages to play this kind of expansion. My only hope is that it's $29.99.

I'd say that's a pretty fair summary of the KZ franchise. KZ2 was massively under-rated due to coming out at the time when it was cool to hate on the PS3.

KillZone Merc's greatest downfall, s that it's a Killzone game. I love the new approach to the game, but I think it would probably have been better being a different IP.

You're right, your IPS monitor can't compare to the awesomeness of the OLED :p

Has anyone played MXGP yet? I've been playing a fair bit of Mud this weekend and it's actually a really fun game. Not quite as good as WRC4, but the fact that it's proper races rather than time trial kind of concentrates. I'm just hoping MXGP is more like Mud and less like Moto GP which as cool as it is, is too much on the simulation side for my liking.

I haven't played ShadowFall yet... but i wouldn't put KZ3 above KZM, because is the easies and more "mainstream" game of the franchise... great graphics, and nice story but with awfal protagonist (like KZ2), but awfully easy, You find too much ammunition and your partner revivie You a lot, but most of the time You die because of him. The best of KZ3 is the introduction of the brutal clos combat kills, every shooter should take this! those Knife instant kill are a stupid thing, even for fast paced shooters...

KZ2 was a great game, like you say, underrated but was too much linear, not its fault, it was the trend by then... So being justs, A tie between kZ2 and KZMerc is wise, but i still like Merc a lot more.. only complain is that's short even with the replayabilty.. I would have prefered new missions as DLC instead of botZones and weapons.. the support for the title is the worst of the franchise...
