Wow, that GAF thread...
Tbh, I'm used to it these days. The more generations have passed; the more people have become entitled. If this really is the result of JRPGVita, I don't know why people are surprised. Shahid's word cloud had "Tales" and "Hearts" right at the very top. If that's not sending him a message about what to localize, then the people who didn't want it should've been more vocal.
I also think it's getting some un-necessary graphical criticism. It isn't the best looker, sure, but when there are people in the thread saying that the DS version looks better... I have no words.

Well, the DS version had rather high quality pixel art while the quality of the Vita version's 3D graphics is not so great, so I can kind of see where they're coming from there. But given that the Tales games completely dominated the voting, nobody should be surprised that this is where Shahid's efforts went. It wouldn't have been my first choice, either, but it was reasonably well reviewed. Better this than nothing, for sure.
On the entitlement tip, I love the way entitled people react when they're informed that they do, in fact, feel entitled. Every now and then someone will state the obvious in a thread full of whiners, and the throes it sets off are nothing short of breathtaking.
In happier news, Curses 'n' Chaos was revealed at PAX. I was expecting something along the lines of Ghosts 'n' Goblins based on the name, and it does look kind of like that, only based around waves of enemies instead of standard levels. I'm expecting sadistic difficulty!

Yeah, they incorporated those ideas pretty well. It's been a while in anime where there's such a huge focus on the scifi elements and I like it. Not really surprising as its adapted from an award winning novel. (I think) One gripe I have is the gritty art. I need more colors! I'm usually ok with cg but it looks too dull here. Otherwise, this will likely be my AOTS.
And I don't know about no oppai, no pantsu. It's quite fanservice heavy from what I heard.

Hmm. Having just sat and watched a lengthy video of Hearts, I can understand where that argument is coming from, but I don't really agree with it.
Having said that, I massively prefer Tales since it switched to 3D combat. So having 3D graphics to go with it, even terrible ones, is par for the course.
My biggest problem with that thread so far is that there seems to be a hivemind of "they ruined Hearts with Hearts R", yet this echoed opinion is never expanded on. There's maybe one or two people in that thread who actually offer feedback on what the game does better/worse than the original game; everyone else just seems to be repeating this opinion rather than saying why.
And besides, I didn't play the original. I'm willing to bet the majority of people in the west didn't!
(And I'm really growing to love Tales. Should this turn out to be true, it may dislodge Dangan Ronpa 2 as my most anticipated game!)

I love tales. But I think its best to not get our hopes too high up. But I'm not complaining if it happens. Another day 1 for me. (Digital of course)
As a side note, why aren't they releasing a freedom wars bundle? The limited edition doen't look too appealing: a poster, a mug, and a plushie.

You know the implication.
S'kay. I'm sure by the time NISA release a DR2 trailer, my hype will swing back.

If I recall, the whole fiasco started in Japan when a certain blogger posted a review questioning the removal of a couple scenes. The review got circulated around, but it drew so much ire from Tales fans that the blogger apologized for their review and quit. Major sites responsible for circulating and overblowing the review also apologized for concentrating on that aspect (articles basically consisted of TLDR scenes are missing). It was a really shameful moment, I doubt the original reviewer meant it to be a bashing review, as they also mentioned that the additional scenes and enhancements made it a great game. Maybe a few people obsessed with the original and/or mindlessly lean towards a certain brand of hardware would disagree, but this is internet mob mentality at its worst.
