I tried the demo for Toukiden yesterday.

Hmm... to say its a MonHun clone is an understatement. The game could be called Monster Hunter the age of demons.
With that said, im sure any MH fans that have a Vita will absolutely love it.

I dont think its my cup of tea though. I am gonna hold out for Ragnarok Odyssey Ace. I like the gameplay and graphics/visual presentation better.

Yeah I found it pretty damn similar in general. I was hating the demo until I used the dual daggers or w.e. Imo it doesn't feel so much like a clone with it, It gives me a bit of a ragnarok vibe. Because I just love jumping up the monsters and giving nasty combos lol.

Did you enjoy it overall though? It being similar to MH doesn't bother be because I've never played it, so as long as the combat's solid enough I think I'll pick it up, just maybe not immediately

I'm not 100% on it, but I can say, I had no actual interest in it before because I actually dislike MH and it seemed very similar. But I took the chance and downloaded the demo, trying 3 weapon types, I hated the long sword and didn't enjoy the scyth and ball. The game seemed real simple at first too. But then I switched to the dual daggers. The game instantly became a fun Action/Hunter game. Bouncing off enemies, quick attacks etc. It has alot of skill requirement and a special  system were you get special buff abilities, mainly useful against bosses. I'd say I definitely enjoyed it and will get if I have some free cash soon. If you like SS you should like this. I'd give the demo a "must try" review. It would vary alot from person to person

Excellent, it'll be my first hunting game full stop, but it sounds like I might enjoy it. Time to download the demo methinks

Thanks for your impressions :)

No Prob ;)

I'm also not a big fan of some things MH does. As i said, im sure any MH fans will enjoy it. The combat is definitly faster and probably deeped as it has a system where you can equip certain souls to give you different skills, like Attack power up, or self healing (they all got a limited number of uses though).

The levels have multiple areas like MH and theres other monsters about besides the ones on your mission objectives, again like MH. You dont skin the corpses but you do something similar. The field farming is basically like God Eater in wich you see a little light in the groud and pick it up.

Multiple weapons and a system that allows you to cut pieces of monsters bodies like arms and legs (from the bosses i mean). I dunno if its permanent but it looked like they just regrow after a period of vulnerability.

So, definitly more aproachable than MH, but glues very closely to the MH design.

Yup I agree 100%. The body part thing, the body pieces seem to be replaced by the enemies soul or something, I know you can use the circle thing to absorb the body parts once they come off then it's body part is replaced by some purplish transparent parts

Majority of those lower scores seem to be because of the ending.

These are some dark days Vita friends, dark days. Wish I was at their little breakfast meeting so I could splash orange juice in Shu's face and shove a pancake down his pants. These idiots are treating the Vita as if it were their hated step-child and it makes me sick.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm already looking for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate instead of Toukiden...

Wait, why wouldn't you buy Toukiden all of the sudden? At least Tecmo Koei is supporting the Vita.

I don't get what you mean Lehemsy...I understand if you care about MH looking forward to it but the current situation has nothing to do with Toukiden or any of the upcoming games. You were either interested in them..or you weren't. A game in 2015 isn't gonna change that, especially since Toukiden is coming out real soon

Jezz, I just wanted to be funny saying like "Abandon the ship! It's all over!"

They're all pretty livid about the ending, but most of them rip on the gameplay as well.

I think that 1st person dungeon crawlers should be a thing of the past. To me personally Mind = 0 had a great premise, but the actual presentation and design choises were not to my liking.

Aside from the perspective difference, is Mind=0's dungeon crawling actually that different from Persona 3's?

You navigate randomly generated dungeons bit-by-bit.  The map remains unexplored until you walk over it.  You fight random turn-based battles with enemies.

The fact that you can attack or dodge enemies in Persona is a decent difference, but otherwise, they're pretty similar.

I'm not a huge fan of first person dungeon crawlers, but I don't think that design choice in itself is a good or bad thing.  Dungeon crawling in most games is pretty tedious whether first or third person.

It's the other stuff that makes Persona good (i.e. social links) and if Mind=0 doesn't have anything else like that to make it enjoyable, then that'll probably be why it sucks; not because first person dungeon crawlers are bad.

I like them, so you are wrong.
