Even if the retail sales of FFXHD went way down, it could be nevertheless be the reason for the increased Vita sales.

Perhaps many people bought the digital version when they could not find the retail version in a store nearby.

It could definitely be in part due to residual FFXHD purchasers, but that doesn't really explain the week to week pattern. This could also be partially attributed to the Vita TV, but again, only a small number of the total (about 6k) were due to the Vita TV. I think something else is going on here. New model doing well? People just getting tired of the 3DS?

Apparently money is given for new year in Japan. So then the kids/teenagers spend that on what they actually want and quite a lot of them wanted a Vita.

According to the Japanese charts thread, the parents buy Nintendo consoles, hence their pre Xmas rise in sales, then when money is given for new year, they run out and buy Sony systems.

No idea how true that is. But it would make some sense.

That's possible, but this would still be 250%+ of last year's sales for this week. So, something seems to have changed.

I had Carbon own the City and I recall enjoying it very much. Nice steering mechanics, graphics blew my mind back then for a handheld title, probably a bit dated for now. And most importantly for me back then, Open World, I loved it. Pro Street didn't have it and i was pissed :-/

Carbon was the one I was thinking about actually.  Underground Rivals looked a bit... ehh.

Cheers for the feedback.  Didn't realise it was open world either, pretty sweet.  Will probably pick it up next week then!

I wonder how successful the Vita tv would be in the West.

Apparently on a percentage front, the rise is comparable with the previous year. But yeah YOY jump is fantastic. Hopefully it signals a much better more established year for the system :D I can live with Japanese hand me downs.

I'll buy Danganronpa if the story is different from the anime which was just shit.

The anime is based on this very game... most people talked good about the animation, but like ever this type of games are bad adapted because they have a lot of secrets, events, endings extras... is like Visual novel adpatations. normally follow one route or mix all the routes... look for video gameplay... and make sdure the gameplay is worth of it.. I doubt the story is much different...

Carbon was quite good, but 5-1-0 was fantastic. Though most of the time I was playing multiplayer but single was also great from what I remember. You can't go wrong  with any of them. Though I don't know how would they feel now.

If you haven't played it I would recommend the Burnout games for PSP. Those were dope

Don't think I've played a NFS game on psp tho

Is Dominator any good?  I was planning on buying the download version of Legends just in case EA ever decide to update the compatibility to make it work on Vita.

yep I enjoyed both that and Legends
