Stranger's Wrath isn't anywhere near to being an indie game. It's a port of a AAA Xbox game.

This isn't directed just at you since you're not the only person I've seen say it, but where did this mindset come from that retail release = AAA game?

If there was ever a term that was taken over and misused by the fanbase, it's "AAA".  All it means is that a market analyst has determined that such a game is a good investment at retail.  That's all.  It's a tool to help retailers decide on what to order.  Most people would be surprised at what gets AAA or AA listing.

Minecraft, for example, will probably get an AAA listing for PS4.  I used to see DS and Wii games that no one here would call AAA listed as AAA, simply because they were projected to move units.

"Indie" is another term that needs to die and go away.  It's just become a hot button label and a slur for people who only want "AAA".  In reality, "indie" ranges from two guys in their basement on up to teams that are professional and highly successful.  The borders of game content are becoming blurred and the false dichotomy many people cling to is becoming less and less realistic.

If you do, don't forget to buy the Xtreme Legends expansion when it comes out (well, if you like vanilla DW8 first). They're usually like the base game but on steroids, with lots of extra challenges and crazy powerful weapons to collect, as well as new characters (I think DW8XL has 5 new choices). If you ever hear someone say that there's no skill involved in musou games, tell them to play some of the 10-star challenges on nightmare!

Just make sure you buy it on PS3 if you can, the XL and Empires expansions don't seem to come out on X360. Although, you could wait for the Vita and PS4 versions, which have both DW8 and XL included. Vita has cross-save as well I believe. You'd have to wait until the new year though

thats what I´m doing, I´m literally swimming in games right now.

Thanks for the input !

Same as me, I haven't actually had a chance to play DW8 despite absolutely loving 7 and getting completely addicted to NEXT. Mainly because I don't want to buy the X360 version because that means no XL, but I don't have a PS3 (yet) so I'll either get the Vita version if it's not too much worse than the console versions, buy a PS3 and play it there or just maybe buy a PS4 (not all that intersted in the current lineup, plus I'd get much more gaming for less with PS3)

To change the subject:

How is Dynasty Warriors Next ? I´m super intrigued by Hyrule Worriors but don´t want to go in completely blind. Is Next a good entry point for the series or should I go with DW8 ?

Dynasty Warriors Next is better than Dynasty Warriors 4, which is the only other game in the series I've played :P

Seriously though, I'm having a really good time playing it and can recommend it.  As FiveOver says though, the touch screen duels do really get in the way of the gameplay and it's a little frustrating.  Everything else about the game is fun, though.

Seems you're gonna get DW8 though which seems like a smart choice.  Since it's coming to Vita, you might as well wait and see how it turns out.

Just started Ys: Memories of Celceta last night, got through the mines.

Love it so far! usually kinda patch-and-go with JRPG's, but this one is latching into my heart pretty good. Love the exploration element, love the party swapping, love the bosses and the fighting styles. Great stuff.

Oh, and being able to switch out party members means YAY! This game is, by default, better than Final Fantasy XIII!

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

Mostly true, but not in every area - DW4 still has one of the best OSTs in the series, which I would say was only recently matched with 8. Also, though I really like NEXT and DW7, the older musou games have a slightly more satisfying feel to the use of the weapons, like they hit harder.

Also because there's fewer ememies, earning a big KO count by the end of a stage seems to mean a bit more and the game gives you more tactical flexibilty, with many routes to win the battle and different possible outcomes which is in my opinion the only major area in which 7 wasn't as good as 4

Admittedly it is a very long time since I played DW4 and because I was younger and used to go round to a friend's house to play it I suppose my judgement may be clouded over slightly by nostalgia, but I stand by what I say, especially soundtrack wise. DW7 may be better overall but this, this, and especially this are some of my favourite pieces of rock music in video gaming.

They are very cheesy, 80s hair metal inspired songs and a lot of people will listen to them and think they're absolutely crap, but in that respect I think they fit the games perfectly, excellent battlefield music I think, with a nice swagger to most of the riffs

Just to make it entirely clear, NEXT is better, but there are one or two areas I wish were just a little more like the old days :)

I do not doubt you, Ys Seven was better than ffxiii and so were many other lower budget jrpgs this gen =P

gonna have to wait a bit longer though, february cant come soon enough with the Ys european release.

Strange topic to bring up, but I noticed next year's announced LEGO games (The Movie/The Hobbit) aren't going to be on DS anymore, just Vita/3DS. I hope this means the games we get are a bit more fully featured now, since the 3DS is a much more capable machine than the versions we've been getting so far.

I'm not expecting home console versions still, but at least improvements, which'll be nice. Shame I have no interest in The Hobbit :(

P.S. Yes, I'm really in the mood for playing LEGO games atm.

P.P.S. Here's the trailers for anyone interested:
