In fairness to Sleepyprince his basic idea isn't too bad, I think he just picked the wrong app. What would be genuinely helpful to Vita would be high quality ports of some of the better Android games, in particular things like the recent DQ ports, but also lots of other smaller mobile games (even Candy Crush etc.)
The former gives you more content to appeal to the hardcore, whilst if you get enough of the latter, you can market Vita to less hardcore users as a device capable of most of the commonly used features of tablets, e.g. internet browsing, watching videos, little mobile games, but which has a large range of more fully featured, more impressive games, all for the same price as other tablets with much less impressive gaming capabilities
That way instead of Vita being harmed by tablets, it may actually be able to ride their wave of popularity without losing the features of a dedicated handheld which made us buy it in the first place
EDIT: It may require certain OS improvements, perhaps upgrades to the internet browser and youtube apps, and greater implemation of features like Netflix, but I think this shouldn't be too hard to achieve
